Film Critique: The Pursuit of Happiness Eng 225: Introduction to Film November 20, 2013 Film Critique: The Pursuit of Happiness Will Smith, one of the best Hollywood actors of all time played an astounding role in the movie, “The Pursuit of Happiness.” The film was directed by Gabriele Muccino and written by Steve Conrad. The movie has a PG-13 rating due to mild language. The main character in the movie is played by Will Smith who had leading roles in other movies such as: “Bad Boys,” “Hancock,” “Men in Black,” “I Am Legend,” and a leading role in a television show, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” In addition, the co-star of the movie was played by Will Smith’s real life son, Jaden Smith who plays the son that he vowed to take good care of. The movie well deserved and it illustrated struggles that a person can encounter even during their success in life. The movie is indeed a true story about a stockbroker by the name of Chris Gardner whom was played by Will Smith. The plot of the movie derives around the troubles that this person encounters during the best phases of life in order to achieve the position that he required. The film also focuses a man, a husband and a father and the responsibilities that he has to fulfill and the problems that he faced in order to satisfy all of his relationships. He suffered the fact that his wife leaves him because of their solid economical conditions of the family; he remains very loyal to his son, Christopher and tries to fulfill all of his needs in every way possible. The movie overall had a tremendous impact on my way of thinking. It made me realize that every successful person in the world have gone through immense hardships, in their personal and professional life.
