Everyone assumes that directors and writers decide what happens in a movie, but many times the movie star is the most powerful person involved with the project. For instance, when Jim Carrey wanted to make a movie about his favorite number, The Number 23 hit theaters across the country. A much more entertaining abuse of this star power occurs when huge movie stars decide they look awesome doing something, and proceed to force that something into every movie they make. For instance ... #5. Tom Hanks' Career is a Urinary Morality Play Most movie stars use their careers to build up enough credibility to avoid urinating onscreen.
Some of his most acclaimed work has been from movies that were based on true stories. When Washington does these real life stories he finds characters that have over come many difficulties in their lives and end up winning. So by Washington starring in roles where he always ends up a winner he is creating an image in the viewers mind that he is a winner. When the audience leaves the movie they remember what great things Washington did to turn out the way he did. Many people have a hard time separating movies from the real world and some people assume the character is that person in real life Denzel Washington is the first African American male to win an Academy Award for the Best Male Actor category.
And try to stay invisible “He is a great father who has been struggling his life to earn some good money and wants best for his son called Luis Galindo. Carlos Galindo has presented himself as a great father. Like other parents, he wants to give best for his son. Carrie Rickey says, “ Demian Bichir in a performance as modest and as epic as the movie he’s in.” He wants to give his son all the luxurious and facilities that he never got in his whole life. Carlos was always concerned about his son.
But what does Roger Ebert say about Casablanca? On his webpage he says: “If we identify strongly with the characters in some movies, then it is no mystery that ‘Casablanca’ is one of the most popular films ever made. It is about a man and a woman who are in love, and who sacrifice love for a higher purpose.” He goes on to say that
James Stewart was one of the best actors of the 1950’s. He had many charactistic that know one in Holly Wood. I think James Stewart was very successful in his movie career because, he was soft spoken and he believed that he could do any role that came his way. While I was growing up I watched two movies that James Stewart was in. The first movie was Vertigo.

This is discovered when the patriarch, Julian Hayden, says to his son Wesley “Ever since the war…Ever since Frank came home in a uniform and you stayed home, you’ve been jealous” (118). This favoritism shows what little respect Julian holds for his younger son that stems from Franks dominance between the Hayden siblings. Wes is constantly put down because of his brother’s achievements; these situations can either make or break Wesley. In all families, there is a member who thrives on ‘power trips’, and in this specific situation, it was Julian, “He wanted, he needed, power…he was a dominating man who drew sustenance and strength from controlling others” (20). Julian acquires his power through putting others down, especially Wes; this causes Wesley to have a lot of animosity towards his father.
Through a dangerous circumstance, Tom Benecke risks his life trying to fill his empty pockets; however, he learns what he should have been filling his pockets with all along. Tom Benecke is a tall, lean, dark-haired man who is more concerned about success at work than the truly important things in his life such as his wife. This character was interesting to me because of the lessons he learns about life and himself throughout the story. I do not like Tom's selfishness and his obsession with work, but in the end of the story I came to admire the choices he makes to change himself. A friend of mine reminds me of Tom because she always puts other things before her family.

It convenes the message that determination and hard work can surmount any challenge thereby rewriting the American dream in modern lingo. The lead roles are assailed by stars that have already proved their mettle numerous times and it is not surprising that Will Smith - who played Chris Gardener, was nominated for an Oscar for his role in this film. The strength of the story and the power of his character cuts through the script like a blade of steel and the characters alone make evaluating the movie problematic. With their remarkable performances they compensate for any shortcomings that the script might have had. The challenge of the movie was to depict the conflict and tension of Chris Gardener’s life without draining the energy of the viewer.
