The pros and cons of young teachers Old teachers retire on a pension and new young teachers take their place. Young teachers have many pluses and minuses. What are those advantages and disadvantages? There are a number of reasons for young teachers. To start with, they understand students more than old teachers. Young teachers usually are just a few years older than the teenage students and they remember how they felt when they were studying at school. They understand what is interesting for students. In addition, some young teachers just know how to engage students. Because of the age similarity young teachers and teenagers have similar interests, so it is much easier to communicate with each other and there are more things to talk about. Lastly, young and strenuous teachers are usually full of new interesting ideas. They constantly improve themselves and others. They know more learning methods which enthuse students. There are a number of reasons against young teachers. One, they don’t have much experience and they cannot keep discipline in class. Students are not afraid of young teachers so they do whatever they want and they do not listen to the teachers. Moreover, some students may not have as much respect for young and new teachers as they have for old teachers. Young teachers are not many years older than the students, so students think that they can disregard them. Furthermore, young teachers do not know good teaching methods as they are inexperienced. Old experienced teachers know assignments from many various exams and they help students to prepare better for the exams. In my opinion, the “good or bad teacher” name depends on a person. If he/she tries to understand students, explains everything very clearly then he/she is a good teacher and the age does not
