A new war broke out soon after the World war two, but the war was different from any other wars because there was no direct armed conflict. In 1946, the Sinews of Peace was given by Prime Minster of UK, and he called on people to object to communism, and the Cold War was lighted by the speech. The Cold War was a series of conflicts between western capitalist countries which was led by America and Socialist Countries which was governed by Soviet Union during 1947 to 1991. It ended up with the collapse of the Soviet Union. The two camps competed with each other in economy, politics, culture and other aspects. The Cold War caused high tensions within American people. There were two –side fears which frightened people. One was the fear of nuclear war. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a good example for this.4, in 1962; the Soviet Union was behind the United States. In order to catch up with American, Soviet Union decided to install missile base in Cuba to deal with America. In 1962, 5, Soviet began to build its missile installations in Cuba secretly and quickly. However, America found the secret quickly, and America believed the action of Soviet Union was a threat for their safety. Kennedy who was American president at that time urged the Soviet to remove their weapons. At the time, a war was on the verge of breaking out. Fortunately, the Soviet agreed to move away their missiles on condition that the United States promised not to invade Cuba. Finally, they reached an agreement. Though the nuclear war did not break out, the fears of people could not be taken away in a short time. Other kind of fear was called the Second Red Scare under which a policy called McCarthyism was invented. McCarthyism arose during the Cold War.6 , McCarthyism was a policy under which the American government used high political repression to fight against communists, and they even pointed fingers at people without any evidence.
