People were watching this horrific act being shown on every news channel for weeks after the attacks occurred. At the same time Americans were being told that terrorist had hi-jacked each plane and took control of the planes in order for these terrible acts to have taken place. The media was used as a deception to all Americans in order for them to believe that there were actual terrorists who attacked America for an unseen reason. To this day no one has shown a reliable reason for the attacks on
The NSA’s domestic spying program, known in official government documents as the “President’s Surveillance Program,” ("The Program") was implemented by President George W. Bush shortly after the attacks on September 11, 2001. The US Government still considers the Program officially classified, but a tremendous amount of information has been exposed by various whistleblowers, admitted to by government officials during Congressional hearings and with public statements, and reported on in investigations by major newspaper across the country. Our NSA Domestic Spying Timeline has a full list of important dates, events, and reports, but we also want to explain—to the extent we understand it—the full scope of the Program and how the government has implemented it. In the weeks after 9/11, President Bush authorized the National Security Agency (NSA) to conduct a range of surveillance activities inside the United States, which had been barred by law and agency policy for decades. When the NSA’s spying program was first exposed by the
Tony Wallace February 20, 2014 English101-101 Pros and Cons Essay Patriot Act Thesis: The patriot act was introduced and passed also signed as a law in October in 2001 in response of 9/11 attacks. The act gives the government more power to conduct surveillances or searches within the United States. The purpose of the patriot act is to loosen the restrictions on domestic violence and for law enforcement and other agencies. For those that is against the patriot act they see it as the government is spying on them all the time and its taking away there privacy. The pros of the patriot act are that the law updated wiretapping laws to take into account the changing technology of
Our nation bowed its head for 2,830 people presumed dead and the 700 bodies found at ground zero and the 189 killed in the Pentagon. After this period of respectful mourning our nation sprung into action as to save the deaths of their loved ones from being in vain. Our nations security was breached on a catastrophic level due to our lack of a superior airport security. Post 9-11 legislation was for the most part based around preventing such an event from ever happening again. The first order of business after the attacks involved a few plans to solve the problems at hand then later more long-term changes were
Actually, I believe they did, I personally believe that the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the crashing of Flight 93 does not accurately add up to it’s ashes. On September 11, 2001 the media/government reported that terrorists hi-jacked two U.S. commercial airplanes that struck the World Trade Center. Although how could the terrorist successively pass through security and board a plane with weapons, especially after the D.B. Cooper incident? How could such a hateful crime be planned and executed so flawlessly without any suspicion of an attack?
Could it really be a conspiracy? I believe 9/11 was not a conspiracy; however, there was a chance that it could have been prevented if the government had not been negligent. Before 9/11 most Americans felt safe from any threat of terrorist attacks. September 11, 2001 was the deadliest attack on U.S. soil (Ryan 1). About 3,000 Americans died that day (Scheppler 9).
Obama said Pakistan had provided some information leading to the raid. Critics have long accused elements of Pakistan's security establishment of protecting bin Laden, though Islamabad has always denied this. Ties between the U.S. and Pakistan have reached a low point in recent months over the future of Afghanistan, and any hint of possible Pakistani collusion with bin Laden could have major reverberations. Pakistan's foreign ministry said the death of bin Laden shows the resolve of that country and the world to battle terrorism — a resolve that has been frequently questioned by U.S. officials over the past decade. Pakistan's first official statement about the operation acknowledged that the raid was a U.S. operation but did not elaborate.
According to reports not long after becoming CIA director, an investigation conducted by the FBI, inadvertently, uncovered evidence that Petraeus was involved with one Paula Broadwell, author of Petraeus’ biography titled “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus”. The discovery later led to the resignation of Petraeus as director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a continuing investigation by the FBI and public
One of our Army generals, Alexander, said this program threatened 54 terrorist attacks but all in reality it only stopped one. The people in congress do not want to look soft on terrorism so they say nothing about all these underhanded tactics. So the government has been spying on us for many years and not telling us one thing about it. This is treading on our civil liberties while we just sit back and let it happen. (Hedges and Binney on NSA Policy) (The NSA PRISM Surveillance Program in One Minute) (Cooley Law School Patriot Act
Brian Rotella and Mike Picariello Is the government listening? Each day, the national security agency silently monitors millions of telephone calls and emails.
