There is a battle that has been going on for centuries and nobody has tried to end it. This battle is about saving the Earth. The first step to save the earth is to stop pollution, and the best way to stop pollution is by minimizing carbon monoxide. As human beings, we must find an effective way to travel from point A to point B quicker then walking. This is the main reason to why vehicles were created but as a result, carbon monoxide levels are increasing due to the combustion engines on gasoline vehicles. The solution is to use an electric or a hybrid automobile. But now which one will be the best the choice to own? But even though the electric vehicles have more advantages, there is still disadvantages to owning an electric vehicle. According to Alternative Fuel Data Center (2015), the electric vehicle has lower center of gravity than conventional vehicles, require less maintenance. Having a lower a center of gravity, means that the vehicle is less likely to roll over. The electric engines have less fluids, brake wear is reduced due to regenerative braking, and the vehicle has an electric motor, so it is running off a battery not on a combustion system like a regular gasoline vehicle. With the vehicle not having a regular combustion engine, means there is no wear in the engine components and the vehicle will not require as much oil. Since the vehicle is all electric, there is no emissions therefore no tailpipe or an exhaust system. Unlike regular vehicles, an electric car can reach maximum torque or in other words rotational force as soon as one steps on the acceleration pedal, stated by Ghouse (2016). This gives the electric vehicles power so instant stand of waiting for the vehicle to build up power. The tesla model S (The fastest electric car know to man), does 0-60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds. That is crazy fast. Whereas a regular combustion vehicle will need a powerful V-8 engine to obtain this speed and reach higher speeds quicker. According to Berman B. (2016), most electric cars now can only go about 80-100 miles of range and it will take hours to fully refuel or recharge the vehicle. For most drivers, this creates an anxiety because this vehicle does not take anything else but electric. If there is no electric source, there will be no way of recharging the vehicle. Many electric vehicle owners know and have acknowledge that there are few electric stations. This keeps most electric vehicles a city vehicle not a travel option since it can leave you stranded. Another disadvantage, according Energy (2015), the electric vehicles are super quiet. This makes the electric vehicle less noticeable to pedestrians and bicyclist. Electric vehicles are silent because there is no combustion engine therefore no need for an exhaust. Since the vehicle is silent, it makes it more un-noticeable to a pedestrians and bicyclists. This can cause more vehicle accidents since it makes it harder to find or to even notice where the vehicle is coming from. Despite the fact both vehicles have low maintenance, the electric or hybrid battery will need to be replaced.
