The Present Day Relationship between Nature and Society in High Point NC. Keith Copper Jr AP Human Geography Core 2 11/9/2011 Nature is not only a physical realm but also a social creation that includes human beings. Society is the sum of the inventions, institutions, and relationships created and reproduced by human beings across particular places and times. In the relationship between nature and society the two interact with each other. There are different views on the relationship between nature and society. One of the most well known views that has been around for a long time is the one displayed by the Judeo-Christians. The Judeo-Christians believed that nature was placed here on Earth to be dominated by humans. The earliest evidence on the relationship between nature and society was in the Paleolithic period where it showed that people in these times were abusing nature. Other outlooks on the relationship between nature and society include Romanticism. Romanticism goes against what the Judeo-Christians believed and that we need to respect nature. The Question proposed to me that I will be attempting to answer is “What is the present day relationship between nature and society in High Point, NC.” The vision of High Point is to become the most livable, safe and prosperous community in America. The City of High Point came up with something called the Land Use Plan; this is the general plan that helps you determine on where you can establish certain types of developments such as housing, transportation, or parks and recreation.
