The importance of learning English can’t be stressed enough. In an increasingly globalized world, where millions of immigrants every year travel to e.g. United States from non-English speaking countries, it is a must for these people to learn the English language. English is the fourth most spoken language in the world. The English language has an official status, even in those countries where it is not the primary language. In many countries, public authorities speak English to be able to talk to tourists and immigrants. Therefore it is important that we all can speak and write in English. I will try to come up with some arguments for why it is very important to be able to communicate in English. When we talk about IT almost everything is in English. It is impossible to use a computer or the Internet for that matter, without having relatively good English skills. Today Computer and Internet are a part of almost any education so it is also important to be able to speak the English language in relation to this. To succeed in English you have a better chance to enter exactly that higher education you want. Maybe you would like to study in the United States, Canada, Australia or England. Because having a degree from an English-speaking country give people credibility. When you have finished your education, it is a lot easier to get a job if you can communicate in English. Many companies deal today with international customers and they rely on English-speaking staff that can translate and communicate with English-speaking customers and clients. If you like to travel around the world, it is a good idea to learn English. Then you always will be able to find English-speaking people who can help you if you need it.
