The Politics of Pants The Politics of Pants is a summary of James Sullivan’s book about how the Denim jeans became to be so famous. The history stars telling to the audience that the company Levi Strauss & Co. wanted to improve the image of its denim clothes so the denim jeans started with a fever of the cowboy rude image. The politics of Pants’ author says that thanks to teenagers the company needed to rethink about the company’s pitch. Also, artists started to using jeans with the styles of “Elvis Presley”, “cow boy”, etc. and so fans kept their styles. This summary also says that using a pair of denim jeans were a way to say “I am free” “I am rebel and I broke the laws”, and also that the use of jeans is a way to express the idea for denims are so amazing, just for being a pair of pants. In my personal opinion, I found this story very interesting because this summary could explain me how the denim -that nowadays are used more often than other kind of clothes- transformed it to what they are today. Explains about some type of cloth that we still use today days. However, This is a very popular kind of cloth that has a big variety of styles, that we all can make our own style with just a pair of jeans. An example is here, the lecture says that some styles can be like cowboys or Elvis Presley’s style, so it is the same in the actuality; this make it clear that it all depends on the way we wear the jeans. In addition, this summary can show us how we could adapt these jeans every day and how just a simple clothe can be so popular and transcend in the past of the years. As well, it is very interesting to know how this denim clothes became on the story a tendency and left a change on olden times. Nowadays, we have this urban tendency called “The Hipsters” and what they do whit denims is amazing. This Hipsters use styles from 90’s nerds to become it in a big
