Even though we have become more independent, she still does her best to be the best mom she can be. She has always tried to find a balance between working and being a wife and mother, but found that she has always put that first in her life before a career. She is now still working to help put me and my sister through college and will still work to pay for our weddings. Then she will work for her grandchildren. I guess you can say her role in life is to be happy, live comfortably financially and do everything she can to make her family comfortable and happy.
“I want a wife who will keep my clothes clean, ironed, mended, replaced when need be, and who will see to it that my personal things are kept in their proper place so that I can find what I need the minute I need it.” (para. 4). Most of the essay shows how husbands are demanding when it comes to taking care of the family. The writer is trying to get a point across that wives are expected to a whole lot of things perfectly but are not giving the due appreciation. The writer makes her readers aware that she knows what she is talking about in the early parts of the essay because she has experienced it herself.
His mother remembered how lovingly the mother-in-law was looked upon at meal time. She wanted that. She wanted, of course, every good thing for her son. She started reading cookbooks as though they were novels. Then, she discovered the Food Network.
Smith’s strengths are her loyalty, tenacity, and work ethics. She will still be anyone that she has placed in her circle and her family. She keeps going despite the hurdles and obstacles. Even though her husband had a lot of money and wanted her to just stay at home and raise the children, she insisted that she work and have her own money. She finds daily work challenges and working with driven people to be highly motivating and she sees herself as a “star” at work. Based on her beliefs of what makes a good parent, she is also highly motivated to be a devoted mother at home. The motivators are conflicting and she is feeling pressured, guilty, unhappy and stressed, The MARS model of individual behaviour and performance is a good illustration of Anna’s current difficult situation. As the mother of two daughters I always want for my daughters what I feel was lacking in my life. It makes sense to me that Nanny’s idea of success and freedom is being wealthy and idle. That was what was literally beaten into Nanny. I think in real life, as with Nanny, mothers can get so blinded by their own agenda and their attempt to fulfill their own dreams through their daughter that they don’t stop to ask what their child wants. While I understand that this may not be the ideal way to handle a situation, I believe that Nanny did the best she could considering her experiences.
Maggie wants them for sentimental value, she admits to putting them to "everyday use." She is not one to use them to show off or place financial values on like her sister would. Maggie and her mother share a unique stand point; they both seem to be very happy and content with their way of life. They are not financially well off, but they are living life to the fullest. However with increasing numbers of married women working in paid employment sociologists have looked more carefully at the division of labour and weather the increasing numbers of women working has caused the renegotiation of the traditional domestic roles. Whether a family live in a symmetrical family or not will have an effect on the divisions of labour. Theorists such as Young and Willmott argue that family life is gradually improving for all its members, becoming more equal and democratic. For example, women now go out to work and become wage earners, just as men now help with housework and childcare.
This means that I too provide the necessary tools for my employees to succeed, however, I do follow through to ensure that no employee is falling behind in any of their tasks and responsibilities. I choose to focus on the positives and strengths instead of the negatives and the weaknesses. Many managers in my current firm do not take the proper time to shape their employees to be successful. I believe that the extra time that is spent training each employee, will yield higher and more positive results in the long run. By spending extra time with each employee also shows care and respect for each person.
