”EDUCATION” THE LAST RESORT In layman synthesis peace is understood as the state of affairs prevailing during the absence of war, disputes and national apprehension. More and true to this is that Peace is not just a state of freedom from any kind of war or conflict but also a condition of mind, individual or collective a political, economic and social cultural harmoniousness. In other words, peace is also defined as a way of harmonious living and a way of existence with all factors and elements in our environment. Further Peace is an essential requirement for the satisfaction of human basic needs such as food, shelter, health, education, labor and environment. But then in answering the million dollar question as to why achieving world peace seems like an impossible dream. Perhaps the answer lies within ourselves. To start with what have we done to make the world a better place to live in? How have we treated our brothers and our neighbors? Looking at the diverse viewpoints and teachings of great men and the number of world peace advocates that have risen out of nowhere, the issue assumes even more coatings and textures than the original idea. The UNs commendable move to create a position for UNs special envoy on youth to the secretary General arises from the realization that Youth are the pillars of peace and tranquility in the world considering the fact that today we have the population of the world being young. Without going global my Country alone Zambia has a population of about 14million people and out of the 14million 75% are young people below the age 35yrs. This is why there is need for national governments world all over to invest in young people by means of incorporating and harmonizing a peace sensitization curriculum with the main the education system.
