In the 1800s developers would build a town and pay people to relocate, in hopes of others to follow. Once the appearance of a town was formed they were free to move on to the next town to create the same illusion. The reasons for doing so were to double their money and keeps America booming. For centuries, America has been viewed as the “land of opportunity” - a place where people from other countries migrate to in hopes of a second chance at creating a better life for themselves and/or their family. You often hear foreigners quote that they want to come to America to live “the American Dream.” This “American Dream” refers to the opportunity to achieve upward economic mobility in America and obtain the “more” that many Americans (and foreigners) chase after.
Every one minute Australia's population increases by a new person, currently making Australia the gold medallist of growth! Our population is rising at a faster rate than any European nation, and faster than China, India and Indonesia. In 2009 record levels of overseas migration and childbirth increased our population by 480,000 people and by 2050 it's predicted Australia's population will reach 36 million. According to Dick Smith, that's a recipe for disaster. Taking into account the serious challenges of lack of water, poor soil and urban congestion, Dick believes we need to stabilise our population, not increase it.
Immigration policy needs to be carefully evaluated by the United States government (Friedman, 2010). Immigrants have become very vital in the workforce in areas such as construction, restaurants, technology and health care. Immigrants have been known to start businesses than non-immigrants, which contribute to the economy by creating jobs. The United States once saw a need for immigrants; however, once times began to change, immigrants were pushed to the side to ensure that American citizens would be able to maintain jobs. Currently, the population is not seeing the increase as it once did.

The New York Times claimed that, “When immigrants do take jobs, they’re hard workers” (Preston and Connelly a1). Therefore, it greatly contributes to America’s retirement system. The presence of immigrants also contributes to America’s long term population growth, necessary to stabilize the overall retirement fund. The Springer Science and Business Media’s journal states that some other countries in the world suffer from the labor shortages and a demographic crunch, in which a very small number of workers will be expected to pay the retirement and health care for elderly people (Gold 409). The ratio of retired people to workers is expected to dramatically increase in the coming decades, which would result in significant changes in the Security System of America’s retirement money.

If this law passes, it gives them the ability to feel safe, or at least to feel not as threatened as they are right now without any sort of law protecting them. President Obama refers to the new bill as his vision for the 21st century immigration system. The new bill states that undocumented immigrants need to “get right with the law before they can get in line and earn their citizenship.” The bill would cause the population of the U.S. to increase by 10.4 million by 2023. The resulting increase in federal tax revenue would be enormous, but would first require a $262 billion increase in federal spending, "particularly for the Medicaid program and for subsidies provided through insurance exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act. "This new bill does not give undocumented immigrants the rights that they deserve, but it is a start to standing up and doing something about the immigration
Industrialization had a major impact on American society. It was a time of growth and expansion for the nation as a whole as it brought about new ideas and resistance to reformation. In many ways industry was helpful to America’s economy, but it was also a hindrance for the vast majority of the population. People like Sam Patch, otherwise known as the working poor, did not have much opportunity to advance in society, so as time passes there’s more resistance and protest to letting the rich get richer. The messages sent from the famous jumps of Sam Patch were the beginning of a new of democracy, and a fulfillment to the true meaning of the word equality.
