The amount of data and free press is unprecedented and as someone who has grown up with such technology virtually constantly at my side it not difficult to immerse myself in this digital age and culture of limitless connectivity. For better or for worse, the internet has undoubtedly had an impact on my life. It can be, if you so wish it to be a wholly welcoming world – when you have the ability to contact the billions around the globe. They say that university is much different to high school in that now you are exposed to so many different people from such vastly varying backgrounds that it is hard to form the stereotypical clique and be as discriminatory. The internet is so much more than that.
They can choose to engage in deep thinking activities. Too much of anything is not good for any one, and this also applies to internet usage. Scholars say that the price of technology is alienation and that this indicates that the more distracted an individual becomes, the less able they are to experience human emotions such as empathy and compassion. It is still too early to tell what the results of the future effects of the internet, but as Carr states, “An intellectual technology exerts its influence by shifting the emphasis of our thought. As the brain adapts to the new medium, the most profound changes will take place over several generations’
The technology has become a distraction and it has become a huge role in peoples lives. This life full of Internet-based technology is completely changing the way we think about and work on anything and everything. Although technology can be a significant aid to our resources and ability to produce something great, it has huge potential to be a major
WEB 2.0 The internet has advanced rapidly from the time it was first created. The new generation 2.0 has made life easy for a lot of people. In doing so the internet has also reduces humans from being their natural selves. People have become so dependent on the internet. Humans cannot do a lot without a computer; they use it to communicate, socialize, to help each other for their jobs.
Tevin Hutchinson 11/10/2012 English 102 Technology plays a huge role in our everyday life. I do believe that technology has made our lives easier, but it also has made us more dependent on the technology itself. When using the internet for a dictionary you could easily get distracted. Anyone can put anything on the internet, so what you find might not be accurate. Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
Entire classes have moved online as well. Online classes are great because they can fit around your schedule. If you work in the daytime you can do your school at home. Also with online courses you don’t have to worry about getting transportation to and from school. With all the advantages of moving to the internet the online community continues to grow.
We are just as busy in our offline lives as we are on the Internet. For example, before the Internet and smartphones, a regular landline telephone had an extremely long cord enabling us to multitask and do other things while having phone conversations. Additionally, the pages of a book only have text on it, while internet pages have advertisements, pictures, colors, sounds and moving images to distract our minds from concentrating fully. This constant interruption we have come to know with the use of the Web is lessening our ability to fixate on one thing at a time. Something else that is new to us is how quickly scanning and surfing through short passages of text from multiple sources has become the norm for absorbing information these days.
Though technology is used for productive reasons, it has become the prime hub of cyberspace’s social connection. Technology, no matter the size or form, has imposed itself into society’s daily ventures, causing it to be an addictive poison. Technology users need to find a way to limit them from overusing and apply different methods of connecting with others. Being able to socialize in person other than using technology, can not only enrich the community but also prevent the growth of social isolation, health issues, and remorseful habits. Now that technology is being used so abundantly, people are becoming socially isolated and disconnected from reality.
During this day and age, younger generations seem to be becoming more dependent on the Internet to preform basic everyday tasks. Whether it is shopping, calculating numbers, typing papers or communicating, the Internet is being used increasingly. It has expanded to the point where you are able to access the Internet not only from computers, but cell phones, tablets, iPods and TVs making it extremely accessible from any location. Though the convenience can be a great thing at times, it can also be an extremely dangerous tool for anybody not using it correctly. With children and teens quickly becoming more social online via chat rooms, blogs, and different social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter parents are doing one of two things.
Computers Are Taking Over Does technology help us control our world, yes in fact I think it does. There are so many different items that is listed as technology but what I want to center my opinion is on electronics. electronics are a big part in our everyday lives, and most people would not be able to perform their daily tasks or complete their job requirements without the assistance of a computer. How would the we survive if suddenly had no electricity and no computers. I am one who does think that I really do dependence on computers and know that I’m not the only one that knows that others are or do depend on computers also and know that people needing computers are growing.
