Child selling cigarettes on the street, a young little girl colleting trashes, a boy stealing money instead of studying, these are just some of the things that indigent children are experiencing today simply because of poverty. Poverty is one of biggest problems we face today and it still continues to grow. Many of us are affected by it including the children. Many children in our country already face the harsh reality because of poverty. One of the major negative effects of poverty to children is that they tend to dropout from school. Student dropouts lead to child labor because most of the children need to work in order to survive and help their families. Here in our country, there are kids who spends hours collecting trash in the dumpsites which they sell to junkshops. There are also indigent children who tend to steal things and money just for the sake of surviving. For the past years, there are many cases where children, at an early age steal things from other people. There are also cases when children are either left or are given for adaption because their parents don’t want them to experience extreme poverty and so they think that giving them to others is the best way for the children to have better future. Some of them are being a parent to their siblings because they were left by their parents. What is the impact of poverty on the rest of us, in the middle class and in the upper class? Why should we need to know about this? Poverty has always been there but we still remain ignorant of the things that are happening in our society. How can we help if we are not even aware of what is happening? Being aware of the effects of poverty on children can help us think of solutions and ways on how to help lessen poverty even in the simplest ways.
