I did the scientific experiment where I look through the paper towel cylinder and gathered the size of the moon. The moon’s circumference came out to be the same again at 6.83 centimeters. I repeated the same step of measuring the moon with my ruler which provided its circumference. There was a small difference but, this was suspected due to the reality of human error. The circumference came out to be 7.66 which was too extremely off of my previous findings.

By working in this laboratory, Levi avoided the outdoor manual labor that came along with the below freezing temperatures of winter. (“Primo Levi.” http://en.wikipedia.org 1) This was the time that the Russians, also known as the Red Army, were headed towards Auschwitz, which meant that all the camp prisoners were to evacuate in a death march; this did not include the prisoners in the sanatorium. When the Russians were getting closer, the Nazi’s were ordered to kill all of the prisoners that were left, but luckily for Levi, they were terrified and fled instead.

English 3222 Short Paper Due:10/30/12 "Kipple" In the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Phillip K. Dick makes sure to present Earth as an apocalyptic world where much of the Earth has been destroyed by nuclear warfare and most of the human population has run off to Mars. This is a depressing world and the remaining humans on Earth fill the void in their lives with several different venues. Mood organs, Mercerism, empathy boxes, and animals. These things are helpful in filling the void in the humans lives on Earth, but it is the "kipple" that is really filling all the literal voids left when people abandon everything and move to Mars. I propose that Dick uses kipple as a physical embodiment of the figurative void-fillers.
This is similar to other artworks I have read in this course, that since the Spanish came, Indians have been regarded as inferior (Wallace, 2013). This book also brings up the fact that many white men had sexual relationships with native women and Indian men were with white women. Many of these relationships resulted in children that were half Indian and half white as Tayo was (Silko, 1977). Even though these children were half white they were still being discriminated against, many times more so and even from their own families. Being a “half-breed” would have been even more difficult than being a full blooded native, because of the discrimination from all sides.
