Over the course of history, many great individuals have come forth: thinkers, artists, scientists and leaders. Such men have often served as sources of inspiration for me. However, the man that comes to mind when asked to name a historical figure whose inspiration has had a profound effect on me is Leonardo da Vinci. Although renowned primarily as a painter, Leonardo da Vinci was very much a polymath, being skilled as a scientist, a mathematician, an engineer, an inventor, an anatomist and a writer. His versatility and wide scope of knowledge inspired me to develop the same in within myself.
These men were great artist and their art is greatly recognized today. The Mona Lisa for example is still very famous and people still argue who it actually was that da Vinci had painted. There are even fictional characters that were named after these men such as the TMNT which shows that they are still remembered in certain ways. England is also one of the countries that was greatly affected by the Renaissance. It is especially known for one of its greatest authors, William Shakespeare.
Hadrian, Roman Emperor Hadrian was one of the greatest Roman emperors in ancient history because of his success at young age, as well as in his adulthood, his contribution to the arts and his architectural influences in ancient Rome. He gave Rome the breakthrough it needed to succeed as an empire. At the age of ten, young Hadrian lost his father, after the loss he was placed under guardianship by Emperor Trajan, a family relative. Trajan’s initial thought of Hadrian was to create a military career for him. His high skill set of defense and honor toward Trajan allowed him to be recognized.
Frost uses nature to explain, a very important lesson, that us human have lacked to understand. Robert Frost enjoys nature and respects it. Frost uses words and images to intrigue the reader to explore nature. We could understand his point of view
His father was the mayor. He attended school in Florence, but he was preoccupied by art. When he was 13, his father agreed to apprentice him to some well-known painters in Florence. Michelangelo was unsatisfied with these artists, because they would not teach him their artistic secrets. He went to work under another sculptor hired by Lorenzo de Medici.
Instead of taking his father’s last name, Picasso took his mothers last name. Picasso was soon an artistic prodigy. When he was 14 years old he finished the 1-month qualifying examination of the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona in one day. He showed his passion and skill for drawing at an early age. He received training from his father Jose Ruiz.
In Dagoberto Gilb’s story “Romero’s Shirt,” Romero’s plaid Pendleton shirt seems like an insignificant object at first, but gains symbolic significance as the story progresses. Juan Romero, a husband and father, was born and raised in Mexico in a family that had close to nothing. After moving to El Paso from Mexico he realized that there wasn’t much available to his family as a child and wanted different for the family he made with his wife. He cherished his plaid Pendleton shirt because to him it was more than a shirt, it was something he could wear anywhere and everywhere and it symbolized all the hard work he had done to make sure his family had a life that they deserved. Romero was an extremely hard worker and did whatever he could to provide for his family.
Something that Ansel Adams said about his photography was “In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular... sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice.” His photographs filled the pages and pages of the country’s finest magazines and they definitely made it into the National Geographic Magazines. When Ansel Adams would take his landscape pictures he often knew where to stand before taking the good shot. Ansel Adams throughout his career wrote many books and made his art be noticed by others all over the
He was educated at home so he had no real idea of what life was like outside of his family which may of created an ignorance to what was going on around him. Furthermore he was rather aimless and lacking in motivation in early life so he wouldn't of cared what was going on much as he wouldn't of had the drive to do anything about it. However his upbringing did help a little as when he went to secondary school, a school called Gorton that was private and had a fee, he was motivated by his headmaster who inspired him and urged him to help people less fortunate than himself and enter public service. This was helpful as his headmaster was inspiring. He went to Harvard university which gave him his independence and taught him how to handle things on his own.
Thus, I think Mona Lisa is the most suitable artwork for me to mediate different meanings produced since the Renaissance until the postmodern world. The Renaissance’s painter Leonardo Da Vinci finished the portrait in between 1503-1504. There are multiple hypotheses about why the portrait was created: some of them says that it is a self- portrait of the painter by noting that the eyes, nose- tip and mouth of Mona Lisa actually line up with a known self portrait of Leonardo Da Vinci. Other claims that the sitter and the painter had a special rapport. Thus, the sitter appeared to look at the viewer (actually the painter) straight in the eye with ease.
