“Sweet, Sour, and Resentful” In this story, Dumas tells Gourmet magazine how her mother prepares a Persian feast weekly for a great number of people. She tells how her mother is bitter about cooking every week for so many people and in a small place. The family had moved to the states before their friends and family, so they were called on to help adapt when they moved to the area. That’s when the weekly meals started. Dumas stated, “Displaying the hospitality that Iranians so cherish, my father extended a dinner invitation to everyone who called”(321).
Our family is all dressed up, and I can smell the evening’s food rooms away and hear the ending sounds of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on the TV downstairs. We seem like a classic, cookie-cutter family. And then the holiday really begins. My grandma is usually the first to arrive, complete with her leopard-print duffle bag she carried everywhere with her. After her I hear the front door open again and know that, from this point on, the house won’t have another moment of silence.
The clock that she had bought with her own money had been destroyed along with other various school supplies. She was grading papers when we got there and didn’t notice us at first. We told her that we had tried to sell cookie dough to Mr. Walters and Mr. Voltz but they wouldn’t buy any. She felt sympathy for us and agreed to be our first customer. In conclusion, to try to raise money for senior prom, Riley and I tried to sell cookie dough to Mr. Walters, Mr. Voltz, and Mrs. Kodrich.
The product I choose is King’s syrup. In 1905 King’s syrup was developed in Baltimore Maryland and used throughout the Mid Atlantic for years, in which it was the number one syrup. There are several purposes the syrup is used for which is baking, pancakes and waffles. I remember growing up eating pancakes for breakfast umm the smell of Sunday morning breakfast before church. My mother would cook for myself, my dad and my siblings on some weekends.
First we have to get these presents out to the kids. We have only a couple hours till Christmas morning. Then we will work on finding Rudolf." Although this isn’t the best solution Santa agrees. Letting Taco the moose take Rudolfs place.
Colten Barrett Comp II 9/5/2012 Dr. Smith Thanksgiving Dinner Thanksgiving is a holiday filled with feasting, joy, bonding and memories. My family along with millions of other American families every year, come together to celebrate everything that we have been grateful for throughout the year. We celebrate by feasting on some of our most savored dishes; some dishes happen to be a family tradition and are served at every Thanksgiving. Every year my family celebrates Thanksgiving at my grandma and grandpa’s house. By the time every one gets to Grandma’s house, the house is already filling up with fabulous smells of pie, meat, and other wonderful foods and to top it off the smell of fresh cut grass blowing in for the opened windows throughout the house.
It seems like my parents decide where our family is going at the last minute, as I never hear anything about it until my Thanksgiving break starts. Despite the uncertainty of where Thanksgiving dinner will be eaten, I know that many things will remain the same. My family, and probably ever other American family, makes sure to watch the NFL football games during the day on Thanksgiving. This is always something that I look forward to, and it adds some wrinkle of tradition to our day. Now that I come to think of it, maybe changing locations of celebrating Thanksgiving with family has become a tradition of its own.
REFLECTIVE ACCOUNT Yesterday I started my day at work at 7:30 as usual for an early shift. After I clock in the first thing I did was to take my bleep and sign for it. We were two carers and one unit manager on duty. I asked my unit manager if there are any changes before my handover and I headed to the kitchen to prepare the breakfast for our residents according to their specific breakfast list. After I came back with the trolley, me and my colleagues started to give the breakfast for everybody.
My sister was working, which meant it was only my niece and I alone at the house. A note was left on the counter that read ‘you guys need to do laundry and wash the dishes if you think you’re going anywhere tonight. Also, if you take the car, put gas in it. Love, Cinda.’ With that being said, we did some chores so that we could go out for the day, like we planned. We decided to make a huge breakfast and dance around the house with the music blasting, having a great time.
My birthday was coming up, so I had the grand idea of finally exploring the woods I asked my neighborhood friends that the 1 gift I wanted was to have all of us go in the woodland and not come out till we have explored it all. I was surprised when everyone said yes excitedly. We all met up at my house had cake then started for the silva, aka woods. We started for the entrance. We were all fine until DJ went crazy.
