Engineering is the base on how the design of materials, structures, and machines are used to help the world. Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Engineers have become in higher demand because of the advancements in technology, medicine, communication, environmental machines, etc. The university needs to see that Mechanical Engineering is the best career path to contain. This major should not be removed from the degree program because of the advanced knowledge obtained in science and math, in communication skills, in the benefits which are endless, and in the importance of this major to society. The university has to choose the degrees that are the most beneficial to the economy and the most important to the U.S. citizens. Mechanical Engineer graduate’s importance to the world is stronger than the other degrees because of the knowledge contained by them. Mechanical engineers work on teams responsible for developing a wide range of products and systems including: space shuttle vehicles, aircrafts of all sizes and shapes, automobiles, turbines, pumps, power plants, and factories (Mechanical Engineering Information 1). Without the knowledge obtained by engineers, these necessary machines to our society could not be built. Virtually any machine or process you can think of has benefited from the influence of a mechanical engineer. Some people from other majors may believe that engineering uses too many financial resources of the university so it should be removed from the program. Other degree programs believe that since the university is short on funds for educating students why not remove one program that costs the university an extreme amount of money and time. This would allow the university to delete fewer majors
