The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town by John Grisham mostly takes place in Ada, Oklahoma. As the title of the book states, Ada is a very small town with not too many people, so things tend to be magnified. On the night of December 7, 1982, Debbie was working a club named the Coachlight. She asked to go off-duty, and she ended dancing with Glen Gore. She walks angrily away from him, and they are seen outside the club as the Coachlight was closing down. She pushes him away and drives home. The next day at 11:00 AM, Debbie is found dead in her home with cuts, bruises, collapsed lungs, and gruesome injuries to her private parts. The community was really shaken by this crime, as parents were tightening up their children’s curfews for safety. Debbie was forcibly raped and murdered by some man, who smeared death threats with catsup and nail polish over the walls and on her body. She was only 21 when she died. Glen Gore claimed that he saw a man named Ron Williamson pestering Debbie at the club on the night she was murdered. Ron Williamson was a star athlete back in high school for Asher High and had an out-going personality. He was the best baseball player in his school and was named to the All-State team. Ron was highly touted out of high school and people were comparing him to the next Mickey Mantle, a former Oklahoma baseball star who eventually played for the Yankees. He was also a Christian. He ended up getting drafted by the Oakland A’s in the 2nd round, and signed for $50,000. Now Ron loved to party, loved drinking, and would be with many women. In 1973, Ron’s rookie season in the minors was mediocre at best, and was playing a new position, Catcher. Later that year, he ended up getting married to a woman named Patty in November. In spring training next season, a sharp pain shot up in his elbow and he couldn’t play
