Jan 5, 2012 The Influence of Parents To A Child Block 2 John Lee Children-innocent, naïve, and cute may be the first words that would come up in our minds if we were to describe them. Nowadays, however, they are not the children we used to know. “Fourteen-year-old commits suicide,” “Straight ‘A’ student caught robbing multiple times,” “Teenaged son kills father.” Surprisingly, these headlines are no longer shocking to us since they appear frequently on the news. The common thing about these incidents is that it all involves teenagers. Why? Their lack of experience and knowledge are easily making them vulnerable to the cruel society. Thus, they need guidance. Children are hugely influenced by their parents and the environment they grow up in. Therefore, it is the parents’ responsibility to provide a good family environment for their offspring to grow up in and guide them to the rightful path. Initially, parents need to converse with their children frequently. It is surprising to see how many parents do not have an adequate amount of conversation with their child. It is natural for the kids at their adolescence in wanting more privacy and less talk with their parents. Without any communication, however, parents would not know how their child is doing at school and with friends. Many children nowadays are victims of bullying, but they never take the courage to talk about this to their parents. Mothers and fathers are the ones who should bring this topic up and help the child if necessary. No kid in the world would be suffering from bullying and committing suicides if their parents conversed enough with them and passed on their wisdom they acquired from years of experience in the society.
