We continue to learn and strengthen our skills as we grow. B) I learned that I may not always be good at expressing my thoughts. I have learned that I am better at writing out what I feel. I guess I can get more out that way. I have the opportunity to reread what I have written and then make corrections so that the point that I am getting at is full understood by the reader.
I considered a good writer to be anyone who could effectively convey a message to a reader. Since going through the first two units, I have learned that good writing is quite a bit more complicated. Author Keith Grant-Davie discussed how important to good writing it was to analyze your subject matter to understand who all of your possible audiences are and who you may be representing when writing your material, and to address all parties appropriately. If an author can do this effectively, I believe that it is a crucial part of becoming a good writer. Unit one also taught me to reevaluate how important certain priorities when it came to writing.
The audience is a major factor when it comes to how your approach should be. If you are writing to a group of friends and family members you probably will not have to be so specific, you can put it in terms that you know that they will understand. If you are writing to a group of people you do not even know, you should make sure your writing has more detail and is more formal. It is also good to know what kind of response you want back from your audience. Genre is a kind of writing such as a proposal, a report, a letter, a profile, a poem, ECT.
Chapter 1. “They Say” “They Say I Say” by Generald Graff, Cathy Birkenstein, and Russel Durst, tell us how to write a reasonable argument by using certain templates. To make an argument sound professional you need support, words that are professional with meaning, and make sure your readers know what you’re talking about. “They Say I Say” isn’t just the title of this book, but think of it as a template with blanks you need to feel in. In most literature nowadays authors like to argue or set controversy so it receives the readers attention.
I have more of a respect for “Jon Krakhauer” than I did when I first read this story. His attention to detail is a good thing where as I saw it as a bad thing. I need to use more large words and add more stories to my essays so as a writer I respect him and can see that he is a good writer. After writing my own essays, I can see now that it is not easy but to put, as much detail as he did into his essay would be a truly difficult thing for me. Also using many large words in the way that he did to support his ideas, and make his points is not easy.
The more I read, the more my mind opened up to what was going on around the world. Writing did more than teach me about the worldly things, it also made me a better person. Writing made me a better person by having to slow things down in life and not be in a rush to do everything. Writing essays are hard but you can learn a lot from reading and writing essays, such as how to prepare yourself for the outside world. You can learn how to apply for different jobs and how to fill out other important papers when you learn how to read and write
My job, as the writer, was to stay neutral throughout the whole article and deliver the story to the best of my ability. This was another difficult task for me because me as a writer, I like to show a lot of emotion through my writing to really keep the reader involved and interested. I took hard work and a new perspective to help get me through writing the article with such a different and plain
Introduction Writing essay is not easy thing to do. Selecting an appropriate topic, making an outline, organizing every sentences and paragraphs become unity and coherence are not enough to produce an essay inasmuch as writers have to be able to narrate and describe their argument, experience and knowledge in their writing in which it can attract the readers to take a look, enjoy their writing and feel satisfied when they finish reading the essay. For some cases, some writers narrate and describe their arguments, experience and knowledge even fact in an essay by offering something special with those things in order to attract and make the readers become satisfied with the essay. Unfortunately, something special in an essay , it can be special
From the beginning of English 1301, I have gained the appropriate skills and variety of knowledge in writing. I've learned different ways to make my writing effective through techniques taught throughout the semester. From "showing" instead of "telling", interpreting the rhetorical triangle, and using rhetorical devices, I have learned to use all of these skills effectively in my writing. One skill I was able to to use effectively was learning got to "show" instead of "tell". Before this class had began, I was accustomed to writing essays with narrow ideas.
This shows that students are not just writing more but they are actually using knowledge of writing techniques to adapt their text to cater to a particular audience. Basically, I think it is okay to say that we as a generation are not getting dumber. We may be storing less information in our brains as Bauerlein pointed out in his article but that is all because we have gotten used to the idea of having access to almost any answer at any location. Just think about the jobs we are going to be able to do in the future if we can use our brains for exclusively for thinking because memory would be stored somewhere else. Again, we are not becoming dumber, but rather we are just becoming smarter and taking advantage of the tools we have around
