The Importance of Team Building and Trust for Leadership Kayla Anderson Professor Kim James LDSP 3000 – Leadership Development Team building and trust in leadership are very important in producing an effective group and organization. Group members need to feel as though they are apart of team and team building is very effective in doing that. Team building and trust in leadership go hand in hand. A good team is useless if there is no trust for leadership. The group has to trust leadership to continue to be effective. A group or organization that does not trust in its leadership will not be a cohesive team working towards to the goals of the organization. Group members have to know that they can trust leadership to do what is right when the time comes. Team Building Team building helps all members understand that their role is important. We have all heard, no roll is to small, and the goal of team building is to make every member know that their contribution to the group is important. Each group member will know their role and the impact it has on the group. Team building is a way to open the lines of communication within a group. Open communication encourages all group members to be open and honest with each other. This allows conflicts within the group to be handled quickly instead of ignored. Team building helps group members encourage and support each other. This creates a group where each of the members has a mutual respect for each other. As a result of team building, members of the group generally see themselves in a positive light. This helps to create a positive attitude and makes members want to be involved. Team building helps to create a group that shares common goals and a common vision. The goal of team building is to create a group that achieves peak performance and experiences success.
