Mark Swartz called it “language obstacles”. He believed that if you don’t have the fluent language, employers may find it hard to understand you, this will decrease your chance of getting a job at a good level (par. 12). Having a high level of English in writing, listening, speaking, and reading, is crucial in finding a job. Your proficiency in English is one of the main things that employers pay attention to, when you go for a job interview.
Proper English, either written or spoken, tends to be associated with the upper social or economic classes. Toning up your grammar muscles doesn’t guarantee your entry to an executive corner office, but poor grammar makes it harder to fight your way in. Furthermore, with the job market becoming more competitive all the time, no one can afford to pass up an advantage in the working world. English Grammar Workbook For Dummies, 2nd Edition, contains lots of information and exercises geared to those who pound out quarterly reports, e-mails, tweets, memos, slide presentations, and other business communications. If you’re sitting in and not at a desk — in other words, if you’re a student — good grammar pays off in different ways: with better grades and an edge in college and graduate-school admissions.
The teachers done all kinds of stredegy to engage me on English. As time go by I was not grasping the assignment as quickly as I should have been. Learning how to point out sentence essential and agreements were just another part of English that was getting me prepared for writting skills. After learning several parts of English I started working on establishing a express book to write my thoughts that come to surface in it. Writing in my express book helped me correspond with English in a different way to understand how writing is a way of English taht should be familar.
But at the same time it’s really not fair to compare their performance with your English speaking students. So there is a must need for standard based instruction that pertains to the needs of just ELLs. If we try to hold them to the standards of native English speaking students this could actually hurt their self esteem since they probably would never reach the same goals on the same level. Also it could lead to an ELL being missed diagnosed with a learning disability (LD). This is why there have been some efforts to develop English Language Development (ELD) standards.
He wanted them to be able to fix their problems themselves and let the government do more important jobs and have to worry about them less. He wanted them to become strong, independent people, but when America’s situation was as bad as it was nothing the people did could get them out of that situation. The government needed to step in and help them get out of the hole because they were too far in to pull themselves out. This concept had good intentions, but failed miserably. FDR’s Liberal ideas set new ground rules for the coming presidents to follow and his spirit and work ethic were going to be the top bar the next Presidents would have to compete with, even still
It was the language he felt love and the language that kept his family together. On the other hand English was the language that intimidated him. He could only hear sounds people make while speaking English instead of the words. Once he started learning English, he slowly realized that he needed to learn it in order to fit in society. Bilingual Education taught him it is a must to fit in the American society but this profound knowledge cost him the closeness of his family.
Another problem was that even though there are anti-discrimination policies, a slight differential treatment towards minorities is still present. Employers expect and demand more input from minority groups and that is why people are hesitant to leave their workplace to cast a vote (Rivers, 2012). An outside source looks at voting from a different perspective. An interestingly opposing statistic is that minority groups with higher education and social status take the time to participate, as voting is very important to them. They want to take part in the choice of their government because it took so long and so much effort for them to receive the equal rights and abilities to enjoy democracy (Speel, 2010).
Although advertisements seem as a positive addition to countries in need of a stable economy, it is a enormous impact on people’s lives. (Doc. E) Without it, people wouldn’t know the latest fashion style, the best car, or the new developed drink and it would keep people in a boring routine of buying the same products and not exploring. Even though advertisements try to influence people’s decisions, it is up to the people as consumers to make moral
When first elected president, he tried to push through too many of his policies and some of these backfired. Although this showed how inexperienced he was the American people liked him for his keenness making this one of his successes. However, his attempt of reforming the healthcare system in the USA didn’t go to plan as congress rejected it, making this one of his presidential failures. As this was his wife, Hilary Clinton’s plan we could question was this a failure of Clinton’s presidency or a failure of a husband not being able to stand up to his wife? Whilst in his presidential years, he was liked by the public because he challenged the views against homosexuals and abortion, which were popular amongst Americans.
we speak English. Nevertheless, the English language is one of the more difficult languages to learn and I can understand why many immigrants may feel overwhelmed and intimidated when faced with learning a whole new language. This is why, I believe, the U.S. should implement a required program specifically designed to aid incoming immigrants in learning English. This would especially be constructive for those entering the workforce and will absolutely have a positive effect on the future of those that complete the program. Although, at this point in time, the United States does not have a National language I still believe a helpful program should be put into action.
