December 8, 2011 A Comparative Critique of “The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror” and “The Abu Ghraib Prison Scandal: Sources of Sadism” The subject of obedience to authority to the point where a human would cause physical harm to another human has been greatly debated among modern critics. In his article “The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror”, Crispin Sartwell suggests that the average ordinary citizen will participate in mass genocide. In contrast, “The Abu Ghraib Prison Scandal: Sources of Sadism” by Marianne Szegedy-Maszak focuses on the response of soldiers in the military to their superiors. Both articles cover ground dealing with man’s response to social consensus and obedience. In contrast, however, Sartwell’s article focuses primarily upon the civilian aspect of obedience, whereas Szegedy-Maszak focuses more upon the military aspect.
Also in more serious cases I would talk one-on-one with the troubled employee and do my part to resolve any issue he or she has had with another employee. I would also see to it that a thorough investigation is conducted Step three post informative posters about the company’s rules and regulations, and employee rights. Also set up a safety committee to help promote good health and safe work methods. Argument for Change Stacy Powell Kaplan University College Composition II Argument for Change "Rules in the healthcare setting are very important to ensure proper care of the people being treated there by the healthcare staff responsible for their well being while they are being treated. " Some people would argue that some of the rules set in a healthcare facility are ridiculous and refuse to follow them. Such as cell phone use or taking excessive smoking breaks or longer breaks than assigned. These rules are set to ensure the safety of the patients that live there. If someone is on their phone they tend to ignore call lights or other duties they are supposed to attend to.
“Generals Die in Bed” shows that humans are totally dehumanised by war. Discuss. ‘Generals Die in Bed’, written by Charles Yale Harrison demonstrates the tremendous impact that war can have on an ordinary man and the dehumanising acts that this entails. It shows that the battle of war can test the dignity and morals of men and the emotional impact of this can further destroy that of comradeship and mateship. However, when all dignity and values seem lost, signs of their former selves can, and do return.
This can help others understand and know what you need and want from a certain situation without causing distress or tension for both the resident and the member of staff. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work. If there wasn’t effective communication between staff members then you wouldn’t know what was expected of you for that shift. You need to be informed with any changes e.g. a resident has fallen over, so that you can make sure that you can keep an eye on that resident to prevent further injury and observe for any injury that already may have been caused due to the fall.

Good personal hygiene can greatly reduce the risk of spreading infection. Some basic principles are:- Wash your self regularly and wash your hair, do not wear personal jewelry, especially when undertaking personal care, keep you clothes and shoes clean, wash your hands regularly, wash your hands after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing or smoking. Using PPE like gloves and aprons also helps reduce the spread of infection.
It is important at this point to have a Workers Union that is serious on fighting for the rights of the workers. The union should be very close to the workers in order for them to get the challenges that the workers are facing. There should also be policies and laws protecting workers, such that a worker is given a logic reason on why they are getting fired rather than waking up in the morning and finding out that they no longer have a job. There should also be policies in regards to pension and health insurance covers makings sure that the workers have those paid for them by the firms. The health insurance is especially important for the workers working in dangerous conditions where they are likely to get an injury.

An example of inappropriate care planning would be where in a residential care home a service user may struggle to walk about coherently due to mobility problems as a result of a hip/knee replacement or arthritis. Therefore if inappropriate care planning is given or not given in some cases the risk of injury to the service user is high. Obstacles such as boxes on the floor in their bedroom, wires and steps can be of great danger to them. Inappropriate care planning means not assessing situation and therefore service users are open to harm. To give adequate care planning would to be planning ahead of the situation and ensuring on a daily basis there is not any hazards around that could potentially hurt the service
