An organizations difficulty to reduce expenses, increase productivity, and establish improvements in the quality of work environment for employees is growing (Agung, 2016). Employees rarely are marked as individuals who develop belief systems that want to have a purpose within an organization (Mazurkiewicz, 2017). Freeman’s (1993) model of leading developmental careers proposed that if individual employees are focused on creating their identities that this will lead to a career path. With that said, the most significant question employees asked before this period of identifying career development is what company they will work at for life? While the conventional career path comes in a varied forms career progression, for the most part, occurs outside the organization because of no follows through on the company’s part. (Zivkovic et al., 2015). Employees are more engaged when there is a concerned about their growth; it is usually the employee seeking advice and not the company identifying and seeing out the employee. Therefore, providing an avenue to reach individual employee career goals while achieving the company's current and future goals presents a business case for career counselors in the organization. Human resources in certain organizations have become focused on creating and taking the lead in career development the quality of their current employees (Callanan, Perri, & Tomkowicz, 2017). Job satisfaction, retention, and influencing an employee's future seems to have significantly decreased as a company’s focus over the past ten years (Malhotra, Smets, & Morris, 2016). Executing career pathing has an impact on an organization by improving managerial, departmental and organizational objectives. While employees feel more connected when the employer is focused on employees, internal growth, and development while providing specific avenues to reach career goals that are in line with the company’s vision and mission.
