Undoubtedly, the printing press, which was initially perfected in Mainz, Germany in 1452, had the prominent and significant role for the spread of the Martin Luther’s ideas. There are some arguments for the fact that the printing press was the necessary perquisite to the success of Lutheranism. Firstly, before printing had emerged, there were limited amounts of written materials because they were produced by the human’s hand and, therefore, most of people were not able to get access of data, especially those who lived in suburbs or villages. This means that the printing press allowed information to be shared and gained easily, people could obtain a text in their native language and check it by themselves rather than someone read them the Bible. Also it should not go without notice that since books became available for some village folks, they could be used to teach peasants and commoners to read and to write at a massive scale.
Technology is the building block of any society: it allows for new advancements to be made that improve daily life. Two such societies that made advancements in technology included the Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire. As the expansion of the empire increased, the Romans built roads that linked these regions together. In addition, the empire also developed the transportation of water throughout the city through the construction of aqueducts, which were canals.
Literacy allowed them to conquer foreign lands easily because through writing, they could now have maps, sailing directions, and descriptive reports of previous sailors which would improve their experience. Diamond connects this growth in literacy to the reason behind Europe’s successful colonial power. This is the main reason why they were able to travel, find new places and therefore conquer because Europeans felt they were more superior and advanced because they had literacy. Diamond also talks about the three types of writing which were logogram, syllabary and alphabet. Logogram stood for a word, syllabary was for a syllable and alphabet was for a basic writing.

A NIMBY group is active in Newton Mearns, Glasgow, where it opposes plans to build a new mosque. NIMBY groups also encourage people to step up political participation in terms of writing to their MPs. While direct action and much of pressure group activity is still the preserve of dedicated activists, local NIMBY groups and writing to MPs are more popular activities, suggesting that non-electoral participation has also

This was a system of crop rotation using three fields on which fallow, winter crops, and spring crops alternated. These two advancements allowed to produce more, faster and so to feed more people. In America, more or less the same thing happened but in a more modern way since it was way after.
