As a society, we strive for “perfection,” but nowadays that’s all we hear; songs have gotten to be all to similar and fake. True, lyrics still hold value, but they aren’t sung with passion, although some may argue that. Personally, I find Auto Tune to be a disease that has spread like an epidemic in our culture. When you turn on the radio to a station such as B96, it is almost impossible to find a song that hasn't been altered by auto correlation. To me, artists who create songs completely in Auto Tune deserve less
Moreover, the class took place in one famous music college that was just a few blocks away from my school. I used the appeals of ethos, pathos and logos to become accepted as an essential unit of this discourse community in which I had taken part in. During my three years in the class, I learned much about my instrument and the theory of music. I learned music as a whole new subject and explored the dynamics of learning and playing the keyboard and how to use it to produce good sound! I also learnt the different types of notes, scales, rhythms, tempos, the history of music, the composition of good music, and many more new things which not only made me develop my skills in my instrument but also gave me a thorough review of orchestration music as a whole.
Ramapo College Essay: One of Ramapo’s goals is to increase your capacity for learning and to teach you to think “outside the box”. Describe one experience that has had a significant impact on your intellectual development. As a student who attempts to think “outside of the box” on a regular basis I believe there are many ways Ramapo College can increase my capacity for learning. Throughout my high school experience I have explored many different ways to be more creative. One effective method for me is playing music while writing essays for English.
Argosy University Online M1_A3_The Mozart Effect Cognitive Psychology PSY363 A01 Professor: Kimberly Wilkins Student: Chantel Perez September 3, 2015 Abstract The Mozart Effect is an occurrence that takes place when individuals listen to the two piano sonata. The results are that individuals can recollect information better. There are two studies that were conducted in association with the Mozart Effect. The first study was dedicated to spatial skill performance, and its neural pathway relation to music. The second study, challenged the first study with the argument that any type of music appreciated can cause the same memory effect.
Kenny Jones Dani Tubman Biology May 30, 2012 Abstract: Speaking in Tones by Diana Deutsch The author Diana Deutsch, a professor of psychology at the University of California, San Diego who studies the perception of music and language wrote the article, Speaking in Tones which explains that unlike previously believed, our brains process music and language in overlapping areas of the brain rather than in two distinctly separate regions. The article reports several different types of research projects (including the author’s own research) about the link between music and language summarizing that there is strong evidence that music and language influence each other in a myriad of ways and are neurologically and functionally interwoven. Scientists by the mid-twentieth century believed that language and music were processed in defined separate areas of the brain because brain damaged people still retained musical ability. Language resided on the left and music on the right. By the late 1990s researchers questioned this idea and delved into research without a preconceived attachment previous beliefs.
“It is clear, however, that we associate emotions with music, and the connection between music and reward, the new study indicates, appears to have much to do with "crosstalk," or communication, between two specific areas of the human brain: the auditory cortex, which stores information on sound, and the nucleus accumbens, which stores information on emotions and reward.” 3. “...The researchers found that activity in the nucleus accumbens consistently predicted whether participants enjoyed a given excerpt of music and whether they would purchase the music.” 4. “The greater the activity in the nucleus accumbens, the deeper into their pockets the participants were willing to dig when the pieces were auctioned off in the study.” 5. “...When music we hear jibes with what we know or expect or draws on pre existing emotional associations, we might be inclined to like it and buy
Brainspotting is all about locating, activating, and processing Brainspot. Another main difference between EMDR and Brainspotting are the tools used during the sessions. EMDR does not typically use tools, but Brainspotting is the most effective when it is done with BioLateral Sound CDs. BioLateral Sound CDs use healing sounds that enhance the brain’s ability to process information by alternately stimulating the two hemispheres. The healing sounds enter the brain through the auditory nerves in the ears while the eardrums are vibrated bilaterally.
Having these basic fundamentals down allows the musician to more accurately play the music and sight read better. Throughout high school, I developed these skills until it didn’t take much thought for me to play my major scales up and down full range, then blast through my chromatic scale. I even practiced all forty-eight minor scales. It was the combination of learning to read music as well as performing it
These activities can often translate from children up through elderly adults. Studies indicate that the typical neural degeneration that occurs in old age can be reversed (Dunn, 2013). Ultimately, memory improves with exercise and proper care of the brain. Exercises should be tailored for each specific age group. Puzzles that challenge the person’s thought processes and encourage them to think “outside of the box” are certainly beneficial to improved memory and cognition (“Lecture 8”, n.d.).
Ornamentation In Baroque The seventeenth century is know as an era of invention and discovery, an age of daring expansion.1 Ornamentation is the practise of adding notes to a melody to help add expression, not spoil it. It helps emphasize a note and prolong its length. Ornamentation is one of the most important things to be considered in the history of music in this period. Earlier instruments did not sustain notes as long, so using this tactic helped.2 There were two main types of ornamentation used which were written, and improvisational. These types of ornamentation were used not only for instrumental music, but for vocal music as well.
