And for morality to require God in such a way, there must be a direct link between the two. I believe that morality is defined by God, therefore immoral actions are wrong solely because God forbids them. Similarly, the “rightness” of moral actions is only because God has commanded them. In today's world things are defined as “right” or “wrong” or “moral” and “immoral.” This is because God, is the one that has allowed us to even understand what morality is. I believe that God is the creator and sustainer of all things, and that we would not even be self aware, let alone aware of right and wrong, if God had not created within us his image, and therefore the ability to make moral distinctions.
I don’t consider your / Pronouncements so important that they can / Just…overrule the unwritten laws of heaven. / You are a man, remember” (Sophocles 12). This seen illustrates, that Creon does think he is god, and has no respect for the real gods. Antigone in so many words is explaining to him that he is wrong, and a person should not be denied burial rights for any reason. Creon does not like her explanation, and explains that “I don’t care if she is my sister’s daughter.
They consider the possibility that human beings are controlled by external forces and are not able to exercise free will. The argument that free will and determinism are compatible, is best challenged by soft determinists. This is the idea that our actions are controlled by external forces to a certain extent, but we should still be held accountable for what we choose to do. Finally, predestination claims that a deity is the ultimate cause who determines all human actions. All Christians to a certain extent believe that free will plays an important role in their lives (most commonly seen in their faith and actions).
Donald Trump demonstrates a character that is shrewd and uncaring for his employees. Donald Trump is about establishing an empire here on the earth more so than one in heaven. The Scripture says, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Although he does profess to be a Christian his character unlike Coach Dungy does not validate it. The Christian worldview understands that everything is the Lords and we are to treat it as such.
Which argument did you find most compelling? Why? I like the Appeal to Authority. He makes a good argument because people who did believe in God would realize that there is only one person in control. It can make people realize they don’t need a king because he is not in control of them, God is.
I believe that if there is a God and He is great and loves us, then He would want us to think of others and volunteer and those type of things more than worshipping how amazing He is. That sounds very selfish to me. So this is why you should do what you think is right and not because someone tells you its right. Because if someone tells you something is right, they can still be wrong. No one can decide what is right or wrong except yourself.
What does Edwards mean when he says, “King Saul is in all of us?” All of us have a part that can hinder us from truly serving God. Saul’s fear and pride get in the way of the Lord’s will. We have the fear of losing what we have, so we try to hold on to what we do have. We have pride that hinders us from giving the glory to God. We forget that it is God that gives us the things and leadership that we have here on earth.
Secular worldviews often see human relationships as self-serving with an ultimate goal of getting ahead of the other person for bettering on oneself. In contrast, a biblical worldview of human relationships seeks to serve others first and place God above all else. Romans 2:8 speaks on the ultimate fate for the “selfishly ambitious” who do not obey the Word of God. Throughout the Bible, there are several instances of the ultimate human relationship found in Scripture. For example, Mark 12:31 states, “ …’You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’” as Jesus’ proclamation of human relationships with one another and God.
Also, because of Mr. Hooper’s belief in predestination, the belief that an elect group of people are selected by God to go to Heaven, his sins do not matter. If he is chosen as one of the elect, his sins cannot send him to Hell. If he is not chosen as an elect, his sins do not make things any worse for him than they already are: “Realizing that he can never be certain whether God has elected or damned him taints a clear and uncomplicated view of worldly and spiritual things”
Lincoln says: “the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous” He’s saying some people may not be able to see what’s going on in the world but the Lord can see it. No man should take the consequences of another man. The Lord judgments are true. Nobody can see all the actions that are taking place like he can. He also says: “ .
