Possibly the biggest and only change we see in Ender is that he loses his fears and learns to be a leader and ultimately the noble hero of the story. The entire plot and characters from the movie where interesting. I particularly enjoyed seeing Ender’s journey from being a child to becoming a young man but neverc losing the core values he believed
He also contains all of the manners and values that are expected of a man in that time, including loyalty, courtesy, and pride. Beowulf’s victory over Grendel and the assumed defeat of Grendel’s mother validates his reputation for bravery and establishes him completely as a hero. In the beginning, Beowulf matures very little because he already possesses many heroic qualities from the start. Having rid Denmark of its problems and demons, Beowulf is ready to enter a new phase of his life. Hrothgar, who has become his mentor and somewhat of a father figure to the young man, also begins to advise him on how to rule wisely and efficiently.
Kolby McNeal Harrington English B4 October 5, 2012 The Story of Odysseus Although Odysseus meets many of the epic hero, there are also distinctions which make Odysseus seem less than heroic. They say that because he seems just like any other hero although he was one of the greatest. The things I will be talking about in this essay is Odysseus accomplishments and highlights. Odysseus didn’t really have any troubles at birth, but he left home for the war at a young age. It is kind of cool because he left at a young age it doesn’t mean I want to leave at a young age, but it’s cool for him.
Obi Wan also helps Luke cross the threshold into his new life by going to Mos Eisley. Another task that an archetypal mentor needs to accomplish is to provide the hero with partners. Obi Wan does this by introducing Luke to Han Solo and Chewbacca who will go on his quest with him. It is their ship, the Millenniun Falcon, they use to go to Alderaan, only to discover it has been destroyed. Also, Obi Wan provides guidance to Luke throughout the time they are together.
When fate and the Gods are on your side, your chance of overcoming all trials greatly increase. Odysseus very much desired to see his wife and son, but it was his fate to make it home to Ithaca, and with the help of a few gods, his fortune was upheld. “But then, when the happy gods bring on the long hard times, Bear them he must, against his will, and steel his heart. Our lives, our mood and mind as we pass across the earth, turn as the days turn . .
Obi- Wan is fighting well, but because this is his last chance to be claimed as a Padawan, he suddenly attacks furiously, defeating Bruck. He goes to Qui- Gon Jinn, sure that now that he has proven himself Qui-Gon will accept him as a Padawan. However, Qui-Gon disapproves of his aggressive fighting style, and rejects him, saying that Obi-Wan would be at too great risk for the dark side. For some readers this may be a sad point for them whilst reading. However, it is my favorite part because it teaches discipline.
On the movie True Grit After watching the movie, I think it’s really a good one. The language used in the movie is very interesting, humorous and full of wisdom. What’s more, the movie a detailed description of the frontier heritage in America. The characters in the movie are very true and vivid. Let’s see the spirits within them.
Jamal’s writing became amazingly good and William was able to see himself as an actual person rather then just an author. This effected him so much he not only went to Scotland, but left Jamal everything he owned, including his writing, the most precious thing to him. “Finding Forrester” did all of this realistically, without making the story hard to understand. Overall this is a very good movie that will leave you in wonder at the extent of a young boys talent, and at the same time have you guessing at the true feelings of William Forrester. I rate this movie an 8.5/10 for its clean plot flow, in depth characters, engaging story, and lack of clichés.
As Jefferson wrote each eloquent word, its apparent that he was proud of what his fellow Americans had accomplished. Fitting with The Declaration of Independence, I chose Thomas Jefferson as my historical figure. I believe he embodies all that pride is, from his freedom fighting, right down to his appearance. Jefferson, intelligent and elegant, never stopped fighting for the rights that he knew every man had proudly deserved. Thomas Jefferson once said, “Action will delineate and define you.” Pride in your actions, pride in your words, and pride in yourself all make for real success and Thomas Jefferson knew, and lived with that mindset.
“The World’s Fastest Indian” (2005) is an insightful movie directed by the world renowned director, Roger Donaldson. A character I enjoyed in this film was Burt Munro. I enjoyed this character because of his high, uplifting spirit of determinat ion. Burt Munro is important because he reveals the ideas of ‘Manawanui (Perseverance),’ ‘Realising Your Dreams’ and ‘Overcoming Obstacles.’ These ideas are seen through the film techniques: dialogue, lighting and types of camera shots and angles. Burt Munro is a character I enjoyed because of his total dedication and wholeheartedness towards his dreams, living a day at a time.
