There is so much we can do if people just invest the time and recognize how real this is. People don’t seem to understand or believe anything bad can come from texting until it actually happens to them. Then it’s too late but it doesn’t have to be. I’m no scholar or professional on highway safety but I do have common sense and I have been affected by this epidemic personally and that just puts fuel on the fire so I can save someone else from the pain it may bring. I lost a good friend of mine I known since I was middle school to texting and driving.

The mainstreaming of the cell phone has made it possible to be in contact with the family at all times. Whether Dad needs to let the family know that he is running late due to heavy traffic, or Mom forgot to jot down the grocery list before leaving for the supermarket, the solution is just a phone call away. Breaking down on the side of the road is less distressful when help can be contacted quickly thanks to the cell phone in the car. The smart phone lets the consumer compare prices on the internet while at the store to ensure they are getting the best deal before they make that high dollar purchase. At first glance it seems it would be equally as beneficial for adolescents to have a cell phone to help parents stay in contact and keep track of them, but with a closer look at the negative effects that a cell phone can cause to a teen’s health, behavior, and education, it becomes clear that the possible detriments far outweigh any conveniences that a cell phone may offer.
This revolutionary way of communication can help build relationships and bonds between people. This fast speed of communication will also help one broadcast them self, and allows them to do it almost as soon as whatever they are broadcasting took place. This new way of communication can only make the world a better place, by linking people together and telling them what they need to know as quickly as possible. Building relationships on the internet is dangerous. Anyone can be behind the computer you are engaging with.
Instead, a good idea would be to increase the amount of time a teen needs a permit for, in order to get more experience before actually getting a license. Advocates of raising the driving age often cite immaturity as a reason that the sixteen to eighteen age group has so many crashes. This is the part of the problem that raising the driving age will best address, but not all young drivers are immature. It would be unfair to punish the group as a whole for the actions of a few. Besides, there is already a way to prevent teens from driving before they are ready.

There have been certain situations in my life where I could have benefited from taking the time to stop and think either critically or creatively instead of impulsively which could have resulted in a better outcome. An example that comes to mind is when I purchased my first car from my next door neighbor. I was twenty and wanted a car so badly and assumed that since he was my neighbor he would give me a good deal.
