Rajiv More Critical Thinking 30th July, 2013 The Greatest Salesman in the World An Inspirational and motivational book “The Greatest Salesman in the World” written by Og Mandino, when read produces a positive energy and makes, reader a positive thinker. This book gives learning and holds the best qualities which a salesman should have. As said by, Lester J. Bradshaw that “It is a book to keep at the bedside, or on the living room table- a book to dip into as needed, to browse in now and then, to enjoy in small stimulating portions”. However, as a reader I do not feel that this book needs to be appreciated in the way as Lester J. Bradshaw did. The book does convey the best qualities; however these are the qualities which every sales person carries when he/she is in the market. The principles are universal for everyone, and as a reader for me it does not justifies for why Mandino kept the ten principles in the leather box so safely. Everyone has their own business secret and secret behind their success, is passed to every generation. Similarly, Mandino also portrays a similar story, where Pathros gives his secret of success of how he became a successful salesman to this boy named Hafid. Hafid also reads the secrets and became wealthy and a great salesman. Likewise one day Hafid gets old and shares his success of life with a boy named Paul who was a tentmaker. He has full faith in the boy and gave 10 scrolls to the boy so that it can be preserved by him. The book mainly focuses on the ten scrolls which, gives a broader concept as to how, if a person obeys and follows the ten principles will become a successful salesman. Habit, attitude, love, peace of mind is by far the important factor that can make a person, a great man, however in this concept a great salesman.
