WRITTEN RESEARCH PROJECT HOMELESSNESS IN AMERICA Rob Gossage CHRS2590 – Christian Foundations Capstone Anderson University July 12, 2011 Introduction Homelessness has been a reality since the time man began recording history. From a Biblical perspective, homelessness first occurred shortly after creation with the first two people on earth – Adam and Eve. Genesis, chapter 3, tells the account of Adam and Eve being banished from the Garden of Eden as a result of the fall. Though physically expelled from Eden, God still made sure their physical needs were met. Some are optimistic that homeless numbers will decline and periods of homelessness will be shortened in the future. The positive thinkers cite an expected decrease in unemployment coupled with an increase in federal programs and charitable organization assistance for their confidence. Others are pessimistic; believing homelessness will increase in the future. The cynical point to an expected continuation of the current economic decline, a decrease in federal funding for programs, a decline in charitable assistance, and an escalation of trauma induced mental…show more content…
