MAIN CHARACTERS The main character of The Foxman is in first person. He doesn’t have a name. A boy was 15 years old when he was sent away from his parents’ home to live with his uncle and cousins. His parents were drunks and his mom tried to kill him. The judge ordered him to move into his uncle’s home. He finds the Foxman in the isolated woods and becomes friends with him. He was a town boy sent to live on a remote wilderness farm. At first he is unsure of himself and living on the farm but by the end of the story he is a good hunter and trapper. He feels comfortable living the farm life and soon hardly ever thinks about his parents. Uncle Harold and Aunt Mildred takes in their nephew. They are true farmers. They are kind people and treat their nephew just like they treat their own children. They are hard workers on the farm and at night they enjoy sitting around the living room telling stories with Agile and Hans about the World War II. Carl is his cousin and they are always hanging out together. They talk about girls and enjoy trapping and hunting foxes and rabbits. Carl and his cousin become very close friends. They are the ones who go off hunting in the woods and find the Foxman. The Foxman, is called this because of the fox pelts that hang on the inside of his hut. He is an old man who lives in a shack in the deep northern woods in Minnesota. He has a badly disfigured face that is so disgusting that he covers with a handkerchief so you can’t see his face. He was badly burned during World War II. He’s lived in the woods all alone for over 35 years. He is the best trapper and hunter the boy has ever known. The boy returns to the woods many times and learns from the Foxman the of wilderness survival. The Foxman teaches the boy how to survive in the snowy woods. During a sudden blizzard, the boy loses his way and suffers snow blindness. The Foxman saves
