Eric Sylvester English 102 February 21, 2013 Louisiana is known for its diverse culture and traditions. One of the most well-known traditions Louisiana culture is Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, and excitement for the entire family to enjoy. Everyone is usually wearing purple, green, and gold colors, and people are adorned with long colorful beads and goodies that are caught from the beautiful decorated floats. During Mardi Gras, most families sit on the ground throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching crowds of people walk between the floats.
Duncan 1 Meera Duncan Rebecca Kelly Writers Craft 16 Oct 2013 Exploring the New Exploring a new place can be quite enchanting. Sunday, October sixth, Aaron and I went to Astoria Oregon to seek adventure. My eyes and ears caught interest in many things. I’m not just putting one thing that caught my interest but all the different things that did. I want to focus and find all the beauty in a place I’ve never been to.
Geisel was, and still is, remembered for his books about fairness, discrimination, peace, the environment, consumerism, and humanity (Schulman p.7). Dr. Theodor “Seuss” Geisel died on September 24, 1991. Seventeen years after his death, he was inducted into the California Hall of Fame. His wife took the honor on his behalf (Timeline). Every year on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the members of Kappa Kappa Gamma, of Whitman College in Washington, host the Annual Dr. Seuss Day festival (Diaz).
Colbie Caillat On Aug. 21, 2012 I had went to Colbie Collibet and Gavin Degraw concert at the antelope valley fairgrounds. It was my first time seeing these two artists and they did not disappoint me at all. I love going to shows where the co-headliners or main interact with not only the audience but with each other's performance. Colbie’s voice was sweet and sensual that it makes me want my hubby to be at the show with me! Her songs make me want to fall in love and to be loved all at the same time.

And it is not uncommon for members of parade Krewes to spend an average of $800-$2,000 per parade ride on the beads that they will toss over the course of their parade route. Also, Krewes must submit their bead orders in September to ensure that they will be ready for Carnival season early the next year. In recent years the distribution of beads has been equated to rowdy behavior. This has mainly involved men demanding that women show certain parts of their bodies to earn their beads. Many long-time Mardi Gras attendees will point out that this mainly happens in the French Quarter and not along the actual parade route, where the fun and true purpose of Mardi Gras continues to prosper.
This is a very festive time for this country. January is a very busy month wrought with festivities as Carnevale comes in and proceeds up until Ash Wednesday. Carnevale as you can imagine just like in New Orleans is filled willed colorful pageants, masquerades, singing and dancing and so much more. Although this is celebrated throughout Italy, Each little village and town has their own unique way of celebrating. The celebrations usually continue for many hours into the night and usually end with the sounds of fireworks permeating the air.
Three nights a week my mom, sisters and I would attend rehearsals for our spring or winter production. I loved practicing for each production whether I was the lead or a member of the chorus. I knew all of my hard work would pay off when I stepped onto the stage at the Imperial Theatre and my stomach would fill with that familiar excitement. This theatre group and particularly my time spent

The lottery is a major traditional event that is held every year in the town square. The lottery is when one member of the town is chosen to be stoned by all the friends and family members of the town as an offering to have a fruitful crop growing that season. Shirley Jackson manages to portray a steady tone throughout her short story. This tone indicates a type of friendly atmosphere in the village welcoming the lottery as a festive event like if they were celebrating a party, or a square dance. In the lottery Shirley Jackson mentions at the beginning when the people are gathering in the town square how the women are greeting each other and gossiping.
