As a professional tourist guide, we need to make sure everything goes well and under control. Restaurant or meal arrangements are one of the important job scopes of a tourist guide that he has to evaluate a restaurant from customer’s perspective and his own experiences. The factors we have to consider before making a restaurant recommendation: 1) Quality Food quality is not only important to the guests' impressions of the overall restaurant experience, but it is important for their health as well. There are few considerations when assuring food quality in a restaurant: a. Freshness of ingredients (especially seafood) b. Presentation of dishes c. Taste of food d. Quality of beverages Example of restaurant with good quality foods: Oversea Restaurants 2) Reputation The restaurant’s good reputation is one of its most important assets. Restaurants live and die by their reputation. If a restaurant has a good reputation in the marketplace, guests and we may have a preference to differentiate they provided quality services over another. Example of good reputation restaurants in Malaysia: Frangipani Restaurant & Bar in KL, Tamarind Restaurants, KL. 3) Hygiene/Cleanliness Restaurants that emphasize cleanliness and food safety will insist that their employees observe the minimal precautions. A good restaurant should have an exceptional standard of its cleanliness. Example, the utensils and tables are cleaned. Plates and utensils should be sparkling and squeaky clean. Workers at clean restaurants typically disinfect the tables, furniture and menu and wipe them down with clean towels. 4) Service In upscale restaurants, servers are more a part of the dining experience, offering suggestions and recommendations, such as wine pairings.
