The Evolution of Roman Engineering Engineering Management 302 Abstract “It is better to create than to learn! Creating is the essence of life.”- Julius Caesar. This quote by Julius Caesar adequately sums up the ideals of the Roman Empire and explains the mindset of the powerful during the time of Rome’s reign. Julius Caesar was one of the most successful and power emperors of Rome and was considered not only a power speaker and avenger for the people but and intellect and masterful conqueror. Behind his artful yet vivid years in power Caesar held firmly to the belief that honor and legacy were more important than death itself. With a mindset, radically poised, he lived with the belief that to create was more than an accomplish- it was necessary to living a worthy life. This concept has proved to withstand the test of time in Rome before, during and after the mighty reign of Julius Caesar. The everlasting creations produced by the Romans are still alive and well today and the knowledge of these creations continues to grow. The Evolution of Roman Engineering Throughout history certain milestones of engineering ingenuity were generated and perfected by the Roman civilization. These feats of engineering excellence by Romans are most certainly the result of calculation, vision and hard work. By examining the products left behind by Roman engineers, during the time of their reign, one can begin to understand why these inventions were necessary. The importance and purpose of this research paper will be to provide an organized and concise understanding of the evolution of Roman engineering- this will be achieved by exploiting the continuous existence of their timeless innovations and a review over why they were needed for society at the time.
