The painting before restoration. a of he conservation Bartolommeo Bonghi, portrait by Giovanni Battista Moroni, the leading Lombard painter of the third quarter of the sixteenth century, presented a challenging and unusual dilemma: how to approach early additions-in this case an inscription and coat of arms-painted in after the artist's death (fig. 1). These additions conveyed significant information but substantially altered the painting's composition. The decision to remove

Which contaminant seemed to have the most potent effect on the water? The effects of the contaminated water were that the mixture showed each water type to have a brown color to them. The water type that seemed to have both a surprising and potent effect was the water and soil mixture. I would have thought with using strictly water and potting soil the water turned the darkest brown out of all the other contaminants that I used for the mixture. The vinegar and soil mixture seemed to have cleaner look to them.
The painting is quite simple and even the skull is deprived of some of the complexity of it thus looking almost stylized. The placement of the skull at the top with the large horns taking almost all the top size of the painting together with the placement of the black empty area in the center clearly forms the shape of a cross. The painting is very simple, with a clear and well defined trait defining the shape of the skull and the color areas. The skull is perfectly centered and is portrayed with the left side of it almost perfectly mirroring ¾ of the right side. Colors are strongly separated and very limited in numbers: white, red, blue, black.
In the left and right top panel van Eyck depicted Zachariah and Micah – Old Testament prophets. On the upper register there are the Annunciation scene and a representation of a Flemish town outside the painted window. Van Eyck also depicted Greco-Roman mythological prophetesses. Jan van Eyck uses a technique of illusionism to give an appearance of space by the use of perspective. The opened altarpiece demonstrates human redemption through Christ and salvation.

The artist does try and manipulate the skin into looking much softer than the rest of the painting. West does a good job softening certain colors, though it doesn't seem like much else attention was paid to the rest of the work. The Death of General Wolfe is a very deep dimensional piece. Trying to depict a war West draws a deep backdrop depicting the war raging on as the forefront is a peaceful place offset from the war. The scale of objects seems to diminish creating a sense of depth.
The ties prevent the entire material from being dyed. Designs are formed by applying different colours of dyes to different sections of the wet fabric. A wet t-shirt is much easier to dye than a dry t-shirt. Once complete, the material is rinsed, and the dye is set. Tie-dyeing is accomplished by folding the material into a pattern, and binding it with string or rubber bands.
Hope Hultgren Art 100 November 7, 2011 Comparison of the Crucifixion In this essay I will compare and contrast two works of art. The first is The Crucifixion, a panel from the Isenheim Altarpiece (Matthias Gruenwald, 1510-15). The second is Crucifixion (Pietro Perugino, C.1485). They are both oil paintings on wood panels, have essentially the same title, were completed in around the same time period, and are about the same subject matter (the crucifixion of Jesus Christ), but they are two totally different works of art. The crucifixion has been portrayed in art a countless amount of times through the centuries, and in a myriad of different ways; with Gruenwald and Perugino’s paintings as just one example of this.
