And as a planet we are all experiencing the consequences due to global warming. The science of global warming is becoming more widely accepted in the world, people are starting to realizing that the effects of global warming have far reaching consequences for us as a planet and as people, and we are starting to realize that humans are responsible and that action must be taken to protect the environment (Hauger, 2014). Because most of the time when people think of global warming they think about how cold it is or hot its but never stop to think that there are other impacts to global warming such as the economic impacts, the social impacts and the psychological impacts. Global warning can have a profound effect on the economy in several different ways. One major effect is on agriculture, agriculture is so important to the U.S. economy. It is so depended on specific climate conditions, warmer temperatures can make many crops grow more quickly but it can also reduce the amounts produced like grain crops, the quicker growing reduces the time seeds have to grow and mature which reduces yields (EPA, 2014). Another effect on the economy is in transportation. In the United States transportation systems are designed with the climate in mind, bridges for example have to be made to withstand wind and storms. But with the climate changes occurring the transportation systems normal historical way for looking at the weather to design is no long a reliable predictor of future weather impacts (EPA, 2014).
