CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Bacteria are the very small organism that cannot be seen under naked eyes. Bacteria live in everywhere including our mouth. Bacteria in mouth are called oral bacteria. Oral bacteria can be growth due to the condition on the mouth itself. Bacteria usually grow on the warm place and nutrient rich condition. Some bacteria are bad for our mouth but some of them are not. For example, Streptococcus mutans and Tannerella forsythia, it may cause bad effects such as dental carries, gingivitis or other periodontal diseases and further dangerous disease such as pancreatic cancer. This garlic plant is great for medical importance takes place inside many foods especially meat ones due to its sharp odors, appetizer property and bitter taste and gives flavor to the food. Garlic can be considered as fresh and has also its pills, capsules and extracts. While it is safe, when taken in careful amounts, it can lacerate stomach, when consumed in excessive amounts. Oral health product such as Colgate and Darlie is not really benefit to our oral health cavity, we are supposed to maintain the natural microbial levels in our mouth so that we can use the beneficial activities by the good bacteria. 1.2 Problem statements Some foods are causing the growth of bacteria but some foods stops the growth for bacterial growth. Most of the people out there may not concern about food their taken daily. It may cause plenty of bacteria to grow. Some of the food may also kill the bacteria and some even kill the pathogens that can cause infections and periodontal disease. Higher potential diseases can be occurring when there are longer food in our mouth after eat. Plaque bacteria will use sugar to produce acid to destroy enamel, if we do not clean our mouth after eat.
