Habits are not concrete and are dropped and adopted overtime, a continuous learning process. A habit is something that we no longer think about because it is such a regularity almost becoming involuntary behavior. A person may not even realize that they are doing something the same over and over because it is second nature. Sometimes habits can carry over into other things we may not intent, like a person that wakes up early Monday through Friday for work. On Saturday and Sunday the habit will carry over forcing them to wake up and start their day.
In Dead End Kids by Michele Manges, she talks about how every teenager who works in fast food; also known as a “Mcjob†is setting themselves up for a job that is only wasting their time. A Mcjob only uses skills that a person already knows just from common sense. Michele argues that teenagers are overworked and the fact that most are asked to work late hours, means less sleep and no time for homework. Teenagers can only do so much while they’re in school. They have assignments to worry about, and they are supposed to be able to enjoy the time the have to socialize and be young.
Late arrivals create problems for this system. When a student comes in late, the teacher has to figure out why each student was late, and he has to decide how to record the tardy. Tardy students often delay the beginning of the lesson for everyone, and they often miss portions of it themselves. By delaying lessons, tardy students are wasting everyone else’s time. Tardy students also tend to ask questions that have already been answered.
The reason why the conch shell represents order is because in the lord of flies ralph used it to call the first meeting to order. The conch shell also represents order in a different type of order just like in the book how ralph kept everything in order, everyone had a job and purpose, but as soon as the rules of the conch started to fade away so did the order on the island. The conch shell represents civilization because, when the boys first got on the island ralph and piggy knew they would need to keep everything in order to be able to survive. Then they spot the conch shell at the lagoon and they fish it out of the water. Then ralph and piggy come up with the idea that whoever holds the conch is the only one who is allowed to speak at the meetings.
The existence of civilization is essential to keep the innocence and authenticity of man from escaping. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout and Jem are two children who mature through their adventures together. Gregror did everything for everyone, but nothing for himself. He didn’t enjoy life because he was too busy working at a job that he hated in order to pay off his parents debts and to take care of the household; while they did nothing to help or to show him any appreciation. This story also show how one can give their all and when they are in need of help those that he or she helped along the way will turn their backs with no regard to you. While I was reading, “Metamorphosis”, it made me view life in a different way, and made me come to a decision of taking time out for myself in order to enjoy every essence of being me, and not neglect myself.
The biggest affect that it has on the group is slowing down the amount of work that was getting completed. If I have to repeat myself or wait longer than excepted because the other team members are getting upset with me, I cannot reach the full potential for that day.
