The main conflict that arises from the very beginning of the movie is triggered when the oldest son, Everett, brings his girlfriend, Meredith, home to meet the family. Everett is a handsome successful business man who is looked up to by all the members of the family. Everett takes on the role as the oldest child of five by always being responsible, successful, and poised. The image that Everett portrays is accompanied by his similarly behaved girlfriend. Meredith is also a successful business woman who appears uptight and quirt.
Jennifer runs a tight ship and work, and she is organized enough to prepare lists, so the work is done right. I believe it takes a strong woman with a good self-concept to be an administrative assistant, and take care of an entire family, but I also believe stress is taking a toll on Jennifer’s body and her mind. I find it hard commuting back and forth to work, so I understand Jennifer has severe frustrations. Maybe Jennifer believes she has to do everything for everyone for people to love her, because everyone probably can’t believe how much she can do in one day. They might even call her “Superwoman”, but that is just a television show, and not reality.
So many times in society people often forget what they do will almost always affect someone else, and thought-out this play the audience comes to a realization that it is never morally right to forget about the others whose lives you influence, and you should always remember that actions have consequence. Every character in the play was connected to the death of Eva Smith in a negative way. Weather they had cheated, lied, or unrightfully turned her away the audience realizes that one thing that can be so small to one person can have a life changing effect on someone else’s. Priestly uses the inspector, this mysterious and somewhat otherworldly character to draw the truth out of people and make them realize what they have done. He lectures them on ethics and morals uses these speeches to not only influence the characters, but to also influence the audience’s perceptions on society.
Throughout the play, Miller portrays her as someone who will go to extreme measures to get her own way. From her speech to stage directions it is clear that Abigail is someone who is very confident and relies on the world to revolve around her. She has not however had a very easy life. She saw the murder of her parents and has to live with her greedy uncle, which some would argue could be the reason

When Eve finally accepts the award at the ceremony, it symbolizes all she has ever sought after. Eve has worked hard to manipulate people and circumstances so that she could be known as one of the greatest actresses in the theater. Eve instigated her strategy by studying the very popular actress on stage at the time named Margo Channing.
