I would support the Dream Act, At least it gives the minors a chance to make it right and follow the law and get on the right path of following legalization here in the U.S. If we don’t give them a path to citizenship we will be dealing with a bigger issue of employers still hiring illegal immigrants and we will have more immigrants not paying taxes and will exploit the system. They come to the U.S. for a better life than their country could provide. So why are we making it impossible for their children to go in
The reason for Gatsby to participate in this business was to earn a nice amount of cash quickly to purchase glamorous riches, which was all done to attract the attention of Daisy. But, by Gatsby performing this act, he is cheating and consequently forfeiting his moral values to obtain a great amount of wealth. Fitzgerald’s intent of including this passage was to strengthen his message of how an American
Lofgren exhibits his ability to relate to the common American by describing how the rich get to have it easier while the common man has to struggle to keep up with the world. The rich have detached themselves from the society and, by sending their children to private schools and corrupting the public education system, are inhibiting the rest of the country to reach their echelon. Lofgren gives the impression that by their actions, the rich have metaphorically climbed to the top and kicked the ladder down. He paints the elitists as people who ignorantly spend their money and provides anecdotes throughout the article of examples of this flagrant use of money. Lofgren tells of Robert Rubin, former secretary of Treasury and Executive at Goldman Sachs and CitiGroup, who was scheduled to attend a important function.
They take all of our and jobs and money and send it back to their families in their country of origin. Not only do they exploit our economy by sending money to their families, but they are reluctant to learn and speak the language of this country, English. I believe that most, if not all, citizens of the United States would agree that getting rid of Illegal Immigrants would increase economical and social aspects of our nation. In order to solve this problem, one must start at the root. First, we must prevent all illegal immigrants from entering the United States.
Their efforts are primarily unproductive. While they do try to get more of the suppliers off of the streets, it simply raises the price of the product. Hence, more suppliers are encouraged to enter the market because they believe the rewards outweigh the risks. Chapter two of Super Freakonomics begins with yet another comical title that reads, “Why Should Suicide Bombers Buy Life Insurance?” This chapter draws in the readers with compelling aspects why terrorism is so cheap and easy, and of both birth and death. I will begin with the talk of terrorism.
Is deportation a good way to get illegal immigrants out or is it causing the United States too much tax money? According to the Denver post, 1,953 inmates were all in state prison as foreigners, which of whom are all subject to be deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The cost for the state for some $58 million, or 30,000 a year per inmate, which is about 6 percent of the state’s costs (Suthers, 2011). While some of the 6 percent of the funding can go toward more useful matters such as education. According to Smith, the administration is stopping deportations of young people who were brought to the states illegally and allowing them to apply for a two years’ work permit (Smith P. , 2012).
Aside from that, he had promised to pay back the money he had stolen and believed he would. He was stealing the money because he wanted people to like him and he thought this was the way to do it. 4. The framed T-shirt tells me that he really wanted to have things and needed the money to have the things he wanted. The lifestyle red flags that could have tipped off the company to the possibility of fraud would be the new expensive cars, the expensive clothes, the houses that his income would not have been able to support.
One of the positive effects of passing the DREAM Act is that it will provide legal resident status to the illegal youth living in the U.S., who are passionate about learning and furthering their education. Almost 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school each year in the United States and cannot further education or obtain a job because of their legal status. If the DREAM Act were to be passed, these students would be able to enroll in a college or university, be able to apply for financial aid and pay in-state tuition rates as well as enter the military (Bennion). Once an immigrant completes 2 years of college or military service they will able to obtain legal status. With their new status in the country they will be able to legally work study and obtain drivers’
They will see how easy people in the U.S. are gaining citizenship so they will try to smuggle into this country. Their train of thought will be if they got citizenship just by being patient and going to school I will become a citizen as well. Although, some people may argue that by passing the Dream Act it will boost our economy; this is false. False in the sense that they contributed to the Black Market. They did this by hiring smugglers (aka coyotes).
First off, this would increase illegal immigration. If immigrants from other countries see that illegal immigrants in the US can get citizenship, then they are just going to come here illegally rather than wait for the long hard process of legal immigration. Second, we would be rewarding criminals. People living in the United States have to pay for there crimes, should illegal immigrants too? By giving undocumented immigrants citizenship we would be rewarding criminals.
