There are people who live in a secular world, worlds that is non-religious, but who identify, in their hearts, with Christianity. They are a breed of people who are challenging the Church to become ecumenical in its thinking and if the Church will not get out into the community to help others this group will be found doing the work of the ‘Church’. Pastoral Carers and/or Ministers have challenging roles that must include these Christians who will most likely never come into their Churches. The inclusion of these people will exemplify the most powerful form of love that could ever exist, a love that is unconditional and a love that does not come with wrong motives. The traditions of man must give way to this new generation of worshippers, worshippers who are not frequenting the Church but are in the communities helping, reading ‘spiritual’ books to help them learn about being great people, and having a relationship with God.
Many minimizes worship simply as the singing of songs, or leaving it up to the worship team to “set the atmosphere”, without any participation from the congregation. Some may see worship as a time to sit and listen to the worship team or choir, but it is so much more. There are many different individual concepts and philosophies of worship, and no one will ever totally agree with a particular format. They never have. Since the beginning of time, there has been a conflict in format, style and method.
Instead of going through the motions at church, we need to truly focus on what we are worshiping. We cannot be worried about someone in the congregation yelling “amen” or “praise the lord”. We cannot be worried about what other people are doing in church. We all worship and honor God separately. It does not matter what other people think of us, because they should not be making an opinion or even paying attention to you during worship.
In the article by Rose Solari titled “In Her Own Image”, she talks about the idea that woman should be allowed to be heads, leaders, priests, or pastors of their church (Solari 19-27) . However, the bible states in many different scriptures or verses that women should not. In the Lutheran Missouri Synod denomination of Christianity, they believe that God has many places in the bible that go against the women being religious leaders above men. These examples are more popularly found in the New Testament which is odd because that is where most people look for a more realistic way of living in this generation. However, the examples are found throughout.
“What about Mary, the mother of Jesus? Or Mary Magdala, who preached to the apostles?” (Viewpoints). The bible never says anything about women being banned from religious governance. People like, “Catholic scholars see no reason to exclude women. By all evidence available to me, I estimate that at least three-quarters of Catholic theologians disagree with the official position held out by the Vatican” (Viewpoints).
This religion is also different from Christianity because in services there is a minister and deacons that lead the service. In the Christian service they also read the Holy Bible. One of the major differences in the two religions services is that in the Buddhist service they did not take up an offering. In the Christian religion they never go without taking up an offering. When prayer is done in the Christian churches they do not pray down on their knees, it is always standing up at the altar, or either at their seats with their heads bowed.
In America we are so diverse and we have a lot of different religions to choose from as well as some people who don’t believe in anything at all. I was raised in the church and have a deep relationship with God. State administrators are not permitted to encourage or discourage religion. Some people may find your beliefs offensive because it is not the same belief they have. Certain issues are more sensitive than others and the topic of religion is one of them.
She told me only a few people who truly believed in the Lord and in deep prayer would reach the same spiritual experience. I tried and tried to be in deep prayer and told myself that I believed in the God Almighty. Nonetheless, I was getting nowhere. I suppose I can never get that religious experience that so many did. I was always doubtful-just like Elizabeth
I can stop my personal attitudes or beliefs from getting in the way of working with children by respecting what they believe and what their attitudes are towards my belief. I have many ways of stopping myself from telling other people about ,my belief or boasting about it. I can try and join in with the group of children or staff and let my attitude or belief take its course in what they think of it but not fighting back in what I strongly believe is right. My main belief is Christianity, I go to church every Sunday. I have a belief that when a child gets older they have to be baptized but I wouldn’t let this enter the workplace because I would respect the child’s belief and what they think of Christianity.
Forced Religion At some point in time everyone in society has overlooked his or her personal feelings to conform. People may believe strongly in an idea or thought, but will overlook that belief to be obedient. Is lying about something important really the best way to go? In this short writing by Langston Hughes it described how pressure from adults on innocent children can have a negative lasting effect. Langston Hughes in, “Salvation”, described how he, a young innocent boy, was pressured by his peers and elders so much that he lied about his faith.
