Fast food meals seem to be common in today’s society. Many children in the USA who have unhealthy eating habits expose their live to an unsafe environment. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, “in 1999 13% of children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 years in the United States were overweigh. However, by 2008 this amount multiplied by five in a period of 10 years.” Some of the reasons for this circunstance are a daily unbalanced diet and the consumption of junk food. It is essential to regulate eating tendencies that change an unhealthy for a healthy daily life. Most people consume junk food such as hot dog, hamburgers or fries simply because they love the taste of it. In addition, fast food market convinces people to consume their products and make them think that they have a great deal. However, those are not enough reasons to consume this type of food, since it can cause dangerous effects. In fact, in 1965, a researcher from Searle Pharmaceutical Company discovered the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is 150 times sweeter than an equal amount of sugar. According to Dr. Gary Null, a Nutritionist and Professor of Health Science at New York University, one out of two ten-year-old children has already diseases such as, coronary heart problems, high cholesterol, obesity, arthritis, diabetes, lost of smell, hearing and taste, that normally belong to people of older ages. For example, Johnny Valdez from Union City was energized and active until the age of five. Today, he is in high school and his life has changed gradually and dramatically. He weights 300 lb and faces health issues such as, diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure. In addition, he gets tired frequently, hardly does sports and feels rejected from his friends.
