In the mother’s eye’s, in the photograph, you see the pain hardship and distress that she has clearly overcome. Ma Joad is similar in the fact that she herself does not show how much hurting pain and suffering she overcomes because she believes it will break the family’s backbone leaving everyone to fend for themselves. Both women are inspirational figures in life. They both go on to show that no matter what the situation is with hope anything is
Also, her lack of intelligence has left her with no job and an inability to get a job. In the story, there are many reasons contributing to Jean’s feeling of emptiness and difficulty in her life. To begin, her husband, Ross feels as though he has married beneath himself, and he does not love her anymore. Their marriage was most likely caused by Jean getting pregnant with their son, which made Ross feel like he had to marry her out of force. In the story, Ross specifically tells their son, Kevin that he should try not to marry beneath himself because he will end up stuck in the same situation as him.
Overwhelmed by vulnerability, “[Ethan] saw her [Zeena] preparing to go away”. In contemplation of this abandonment, he almost instinctively “was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone” (Wharton 70). This fear of lonesomeness filters into every aspect of Ethan's life, altering each area drastically. Furthermore, Ethan, despite his apparent hatred for his wife, relies on her companionship to function. On the oppose side of the marital spectrum, Zeena regularly professes her hypochondria to her husband.
She became extremely uncomfortable with the tensions between her sister, the thought of her husband in combat at war, and the expectations of the team. She often complained that the “game” was becoming too hard and Dugan reminded her that it is suppose to be that way or else everyone would do it. “The hard is that makes it great.” (Marshall) Dottie refused to see how special and important her opportunity was. The entire league viewed her as the most talented player and this made her uncomfortable appearing as being #1 and the pressures that came with that. On the other hand, Dottie’s sister Kit represented the “fear of failure” athlete.
She is desperate and you can tell she is very upset. This implies that she is not living her life and has sacrificed her life for Azaire. She seems to always be miserable and is not happy inside. She is only turns alive when she and Stephen start having feelings for each other and feels special inside. This whole relationship towards Isabelle and Azaire seems to be a relationship where Azaire has all the power to do what he likes and Isabelle is not treated as a human being and obeys Azaire.
She displays her mental fortitude in many ways. For example when the Spider-man lets her know he is fond of her she doesn’t even flinch, she also doesn’t let her emotions overwhelm her when Sophie lets out her rage and frustration. Another account of when she portrayed her strength is when she had to leave her mother when she had to escape the people on horses trying to capture her. As well as being strong she is also very intelligent. Like David, she understands that the community they live in, Waknuk, is not safe for them and realizes early that they need to escape.
Elris Percell is as strong as platinum steel, but my relationship with Mrs. Una Smith is as weak as a matchstick that can easily bend and break under a peerson’s thumb. Mrs. Elris is a strong, virtuous, caring, and intelligent woman who can discuss just about anything with an individual. She can tell who is untrustworthy and who is trustworthy; although, Una Smith is a strong, careless, and angry woman who lacks compassion for others. She has an egocentric personality due to a rough and uneasy childhood. When a person talks about a current situation in his or her life, she would always include herself in the situation as if the world revolves around her.
Violence, alcoholics, theft, and threatening people also surround her. Carolina is a strong woman and she knows how to distance herself from all of the bad things in life and to keep her children away from it also. “She hates me. She says that the handsome men and distinguished men prefer me and that I make more money than she does.” (De Jesus, p. 7) Carolina is talking about the jealousy and the hatred coming from the favela women. She puts up with this day-to-day and seems not to get mad that often.
Taking it as far as hurting little kids just shows how cruel and messed up Russell Beckman is. Also, Russell Beckman is very uncaring towards people, even to his girlfriend Sharlene. Most couples are usually caring and considerate of each other, but Russell treats his
Mrs. Turpin and Grandmother, the central characters of “Revelation” and “A good man is hard to find,” by Flannery O’Connor, are both in need of a truth check in their lives. . “As in all of O’Connor’s stories, the violent surface action only begins to suggest the depths and a complexity of meaning embedded in the story. This is especially true when considering the mystery of evil and its relation to the action of grace” (Desmond). Mrs. Turpin considers herself morally superior to others by being a “lady,” and she judges people on their appearance before she even knows them.
