“Just Lather, That’s All” is a story about a barber who prides himself in being the ‘best barber in town’ and when a murderer, who they call Torres, came into his shop for a shave, the barber had the opportunity to kill him. The barber is a coward for not killing Captain Torres because if he had annihilated him, then he would have saved more lives than he took. Also, Torres was a murderous villain who killed people such as the barber himself, everyday. Finally, the barber was a coward for not assassinating Torres because he refused to take the life of Torres because of his own pride. He didn’t want to lose his title as the best barber in town. The barber was a coward because if he had slaughtered Torres, then he would have saved the lives of many while only taking one. Torres was a man who killed a group of people called ‘rebels’ because of their beliefs of their culture. The barber would have only had to dispatch the Captain to set the lives of all the other rebels free. Take one look at another murderous fiend, Hitler. If one of Hitler’s generals had stepped up and followed his morals over his obligations and murdered the homicidal maniac, millions of Jews would have been saved. It only would have taken one man following his personal morals and slaying the ultimate perpetrator to rescue many, many others. Secondly, Torres was an assassin who took the lives of innocent civilians in likeness with the barber – rebels. The barber could have swept away that manslayer with the tilt of a blade and saved the lives of many like him. The rebels would have rejoiced and named him their salvation for killing the man who did just the same to so many of them. Rebels for miles around could live without fear of one day suddenly being publicly hanged in front of a child’s school by Torres and his men.
