Student’s Name Professor’s Name- Course Name- Date of Submission- Review of the Book “The Art of Intelligence” by Henry A. Crumpton Henry A. Crumpton, in his book ‘The Art of Intelligence’ portrayed his experience in the CIA in the most interesting way. This book is basically about Henry Crumpton while in the CIA and especially how he led the very first campaign on the war against terror in the United States of America. During this time Crumpton was inexperienced in this particular field and that is probably a very intriguing aspect of his book. Mr. Crumpton was among the members of the team commissioned by the then president to go to Afghanistan. Around the year 2001, Henry Crumpton directed the United States Special Forces and teams of the CIA to venture into a serious war on terrorism. Together with other Afghan allies, the forces managed to kill several combatants of the Al Qaeda and Taliban origin. Despite the fact that they were unable to capture Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban retreated from the war. The particular campaign bore fruit as it was very successful beyond what people had expected. Earlier on, way before Crumpton joined the CIA; the agency had faced a lot of challenges, with many of the recruits turning against the intelligence agency. By the time Crumpton was joining the CIA in 1981; the agency was in serious crisis and in the process of making various transformations in its system of operation. Mr. Crumpton was never involved in the underground activities of the CIA. He was mainly concerned with gathering of in Africa. As years went by, he rose to other senior ranks in the agency and only returned when the cold war had subsided.
