The Affordable Care Act: Obama Health Insurance Unit 9 Project Nicole McDonald CM107-37 The number of people living in the United States with no health insurance continues to rise each day. President Obama realized that having uninsured American’s what not acceptable. Affordable care was so important to President Obama, that during his first term as president, he proposed a plan to fix this problem. This exciting new plan has been named the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act is expected to come in full effect in the year 2014 and will be able to serve all American who are with or without health insurance. The Affordable Care Act will start helping out a lot of people and their families in the United States.…show more content…
There are also a lot of single women now who have families of two or three children who live paycheck to paycheck because they can not afford to live, and having to pay for insurance on top of that would make things a lot more harder on the mother. But with the Affordable Care Act coming into effect, this will be a lot better for a single mother and her children especially since kids like to play rough sometimes and get hurt all the time. The Affordable Care Act will also reduce the cost of insurance for women and her family and will make sure the cost of insurance will not rise up when they get a promotion at work. The Affordable Care Act will also provide families with annual screenings like check-ups, immunizations, and mammograms with no co-pay or addition costs (Ness 2011). The Affordable Care Act is also going to help young adults to get affordable contraceptives to help prevent an unplanned pregnancy (Cartwright-Smith 2012). It will though take a few years to get all of the problems and errors out of the way before the act is all perfect with all the problems gotten rid of. After all the growing pains are healed, we will see that the Affordable Care Act will be one of the best things available to Americans in a long time. Once the Affordable Care Act comes in to effect in 2014, many Americans thoughts about President Obama hopefully probably change and more people will start approving our president's decisions in our future a lot more which many Americans right now do
