One problem the internet caused stated in the documentary is, it is very hard for parents and authorities to regulate what kids do on the computer. Since the internet is so easy to access via new technologies, authoritative figures just cannot be present with the kids all the time. Another issue the internet has caused reported by the documentary is by it being so addictive, it has taken time away from studying, school work and activities such as reading. This is a problem because education is almost a must in today’s society. However, the documentary fails to acknowledge how the internet has helped kids by providing ways to find answers and acquire research and knowledge.
Like many startup companies, TSI had to cut costs when it launched a few years ago. To save money, the company decided not to use enterprise-class operating systems for its own workstations and servers. Instead, it chose to use a single-purpose TSI OS, reasoning that TSI OS was good enough for TSI customers, so it should be good enough for TSI. Unfortunately, TSI OS lacks many features of a modern operating system and does not take advantage of the architectural optimizations present in the latest hardware. Below is a matrix of general purpose operating system (GPOS) features and how they map to TSI OS: GPOS Feature TSI OS Support for GPOS
Unit 2 – Geek Squad Case Assignment 1. What are the key environmental factors that created an opportunity for Robert Stephens to start the Geek Squad? During the 90’s there was not much competition in understanding technology, repair of advance technology or installation and programming. Also, with the introduction of high tech equipment, there was a lack of qualified talent which made it easy for the Geek Squad to flourish. Many consumers where highly interested in owning the technology but was not familiar with the details of how it works.
The introduction of computers to our family life helps us come together and spend more quality time together. The list can go on, but with all these opportunities we have, we also lose a lot. We lose privacy and security. There are also some greater drawbacks when it comes to the net, like Internet related crimes. My mom and dad both conduct business at home, and I do all my school assignments.
Having a degree in computer science helps me to branch into other areas in the field but of course, my endgame is to become a cyber security technician. As the graph in phase 4 shows, both the salary and job satisfaction are better than network security. The commute and growth are still low due to the fact that as a computer science specialist I wouldn’t be doing much commuting because my job would be mostly working with others in an office. As for the growth, 9% annual growth is very good…depending on your location. CYBER SECURITY (Raw 95%, weighted 100.00%) With a background in Network Security and a degree in computer science I would have all the necessary experience needed to delve into the cyber security world!
In the blog The Plagiarism Epidemic by Karen Bojar, she talks about how the internet has made it very easy for students to cheat. Karen Bojar is a retired school teacher, and she considers herself old school. She was a teacher at a community college in Philadelphia. According to Bojar the educational system has failed many students and there is no way to “make up for miseducation.” Bojar feels she should not have to be a cop. Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar).
The availability of earning a degree from home, via a computer, is the most convenient resource of today. Computers allow many individuals to work from home who have time constrains with work, and family situations. I personally use my computer daily; I use it for college courses, personal business, and pleasurable pursuits. Without a computer I would not be able to complete my education, or conduct personal business, (because many banks and retail company’s require the use of computers for business interactions, today) and I unable to physically walk around in a college campus, because of health issues. There are several technological terms still foreign to me, such as Microprocessor (motherboard), Ram (electronically read and written), and Rom (Read-0nly), megabytes (millions of memory bytes), gigabytes (billions of memory bytes).
He could choose to look at educational websites, such as news sites and online journals, or he could go to “junk” websites that serve no educational purpose. Unfortunately in today’s culture, the vast majority of college students will not use the computer as an effective research tool. The initial purpose of the computer and the Internet was to be able to conveniently record and share information. However, because of these junk websites, such as
Now it is very simple, in a few minutes typing on the keyboard we will get what we need. Therefore, we would not feel the value of what we looked for, because we did not put in any effort, and usually we will forget the information. On the other hand, if we put an effort in while looking for the information, it will stick in our mind and the portion that is forgotten is less. People became addicted to Google; when they need to look for something, the first idea in their mind is Google. However, Google has a huge amount of information and much of it could be wrong.
