Should Stores Be Open On Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving Day should be a day for friends and families to get together and celebrate a special meal as they give thanks. In most cases, the meals often include stuffing, turkey, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, pumpkin pie and cranberry alongside other meals. This day individuals should come together as families and give thanks for what they already have (Millard n.p.). Most people who live far from their families travel on Thanksgiving Day to be with their loved ones.
Thanksgiving As the leaves fall onto the ground, it is so warm outside. It is warm enough to get a family outside and start cooking a big meal. Thanksgiving is a special holiday that happens every fall. When families hang out, they usually occupy themselves with food, games, and football. My family either watches a football game or play football in the yard.
All of the different displays come together to form a very unique holiday celebration. It includes lavish dinners and balls, and elaborate parties. The Jamaican festival “Negril on the Green” was this huge family cookout on five acres of land outdoors. The event occurs every Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until 2 am the next morning. We brought our own lawn chairs, blankets and coolers with cold beverages and some desserts as well. As we walked to find a spot to sit I could smell the heavenly scents of jerk chicken, jerk pork, and fried fish lingering through the air. The music from the bands was lively although I could not understand all of the lyrics but I clapped along away.

Then when it’s over people have barbeques outside Where the floats just passed by, people cook chicken, hotdogs, ribs, and much more. Finally when everyone is done they go home with bags full of beads and stuffed animals and see how much they have and maybe throw some next year. Mardi Gras has been a tradition in Louisiana for many years. There are a lot of floats that pass by on Mardi Gras.
Every year, as was tradition in my mexican- american family, the person in my family who’s birthday it was would receive gifts such as baked sweets, candy, and fruit. However, most of the Bangladeshi people like to eat homemade food; especially at dinner time, they get together and share food with their extended families. Bangladeshi people like to celebrate different kinds of occasions, and in every occasion, they prepare different kinds of dishes. For example, Bengali New Year is one of the biggest occasions for them; people wear red and white combination of dresses and eat a special food, which is called “Panta Elish”. People get time to enjoy most of the occasions because they can get help from other people if they want, but in Canada, it might not be possible. Secondly, another major difference between Canadian culture and Bangladeshi culture is household responsibilities.

On Christmas Eve, the people reunite with their families and close friends to have dinner, then give out presents at midnight. In some cities fireworks are seen and heard at midnight. On New Year's Eve there is food and "cohetes", fireworks and festivities.
