Text analysis E-books Can’t Burn By Tim Parks This particular article brings readers attention to bilateral views about e-books, and it focuses on society and literates view on them and whether they are better then printed works or not. The text reveals the concept of book itself, not as a thing to hold in hands, but its essence. Also, it is notable, that the author, Tim Parks, is in favour of e-books, as they are described as indestructible and easy to use, and do not fully understand why literates are against the idea of e-book popularization. The particular text does not reflect any events. Although in the first paragraph two ideas about e-books of two award winning writers are mentioned, the text is more as an argumented article about the specific theme. The text not only reveals information about e-books, but also gives opinion about their usefulness. The first sentence, and actually the whole first paragraph gives, an acceptable introduction to the text ‘Interviewed after winning England’s Costa Prize for Literature in late January, the distinguished novelist Andrew Miller remarked that while he assumed that soon most popular fiction would be read on screen, he believed and hoped that literary fiction would continue to be read on paper.’ While the first sentence makes the reader suspect the main idea of the following text, the sentence, to be precise, rhetorical question ‘Are they right?’, following the first paragraph indicates, that the article is not about why and how printed books are better, but vice-versa – the author questions Millers statement/wish, thus leading the following text to argue about two so similar, but at the same time so contrary things – printed books and e-books. The main idea that Tim Parks intend to express is in the end of the text, where it is clearly shown, that the author is in favor of e-books and do not entirely
